Chinese eat a species to extinction

Probably not the first - there may be undiscovered species they've already wiped out - but it won't be the last, because the more endangered the species, the more the silly chinkies think it will make their tiny dicks bigger.

A couple of lone voices make a plea to try and stop their madness.

Say goodbye to giant softshell turtle

By Zhang Zhouxiang | China Daily | Updated: 2019-04-15 07:17

ON SATURDAY, the last known female Yangtze giant softshell turtle, the largest species of freshwater turtle, died in Suzhou Zoo. China Daily writer Zhang Zhouxiang comments:

You might never have heard of the species, but the fact is that the death of the Yangtze giant softshell turtle in Suzhou means the species might highly possibly face extinction. There is a male in Suzhou Zoo, and two other turtles are known to be living in the wild in Vietnam. Unless one of the two turtles in Vietnam is female, the species will die out. Yangtze giant softshell turtles are known to have lived 270 million years ago, even earlier than dinosaurs reigned. They survived one disaster after another, except their encounter with humans.

Being over 1 meter in length and more than 100 kilos in weight, Yangtze giant softshell turtles have hardly any natural predator-except for humans.

As Shi Haitao, a professor of biological studies at Hainan Normal University, points out, humans have brought the Yangtze giant softshell turtle to the brink of extinction in two ways. First, the meat is considered a delicacy throughout Asia and they have been ruthlessly hunted. Second, humans have destroyed their natural habitats.

The rarer a species is, the higher its price on the table. But ironically, the meat of Yangtze giant softshell turtle is not nutritious at all. On the contrary, it is harmful to people's health because the turtle can live very long in the wild and it accumulates heavy metals inside its body.

It is easy to say what should be done to protect endangered species, yet harder to do. There are about 30 turtle species in China, and the majority of them need protection. There are many more species that need protection, many of which are unknown to the public. For the Yangtze giant softshell turtle, it is probably too late. But for all protected species, anyone found buying the meat, parts or products of protected species should be punished according to the law, as well as the poachers and those forming the profit chains.

The authorities must do their utmost to prevent the loss of the country's biodiversity.

They are eating the world out of all its wildlife. Not to mention the logging etc.

    Horrible sub-humans.

Move on to the giant panda. The most useless creature on earth, apart from butters. Apart from WWF posters, it serves no purpose.
Habitat destruction is its nemesis. All it does it eat it’s remaining habitat. Fuckers are notoriously difficult to breed. No loss and it would free up serious funds for much worthier causes.

We can only hope that the chinese get struck by some kind of disease that thins out their ingnorant population.

The petitioners raised that based on evidence submitted by the Philippines and reports from independent experts, “the [South China Sea] Arbitral Tribunal found that Chinese fishermen and foreign entities engaged by Chinese government authorities committed several acts that are harmful to the environment,” which are:

    • Harvesting of vulnerable, threatened and endangered species in Panatag and Ayungin shoals, such as corals, giant clams/taklobo and marine turtles
    • Use of cyanide and dynamite in Panatag Shoal and Ayungin Shoal, which is against the Philippine Fisheries Code
    • Intensive construction of artificial islands on seven coral reefs, including Panganiban Reef

“There is an actual violation of Petitioners’ constitutional right to a balanced and healthful ecology arising from the omissions, failure, and/or refusal of respondents to enforce Philippine laws in Panatag Shoal, Ayungin Shoal and Panganiban Reef,” the petition read.
“Chinese fishermen harvested endangered and threatened species and used cyanide and explosives in their fishing. Foreign entities engaged by Chinese authorities constructed and damaged coral reefs in the process,” the petitioners added.

Harry's right. They lend them out to zoos with an artificial insemination kit + instructions and say there you go, knock yourself out. The skirt wearers have got one they've been plugging away at. Once the 1-10,000 chance happens they ask for the family back...ingenius.

As Buddha said : it's just ignorance. Taiwanese people are genetically identical to Mainland Chinese and are the nicest, most well educated and sincere Chinese people I have met. Communist Chinese are largely ignorant and brainwashed.

Same in Thailand : though there is a propensity to retardedness (particularly in Isaan), it's the education system and culture that really stuffs them up.
