UK Alert - Major Announcement Due Shortly

Speculation rife over PM statement at Number 10 - BBC News

Very important announcement to be made by PM outside Number 10 at 11.15 BST. God knows what it is so placed in World News thread. Brexit, North Korea, General Election to be called ?

Favourite is a General Election. The Conservatives are way ahead in the polls, with May herself polling as the best person to be Prime Minister.

An early election will however require a Parliamentary vote, for which 2/3rd in favour is required. Labour apparently support an early election, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Currently, the next General Election is scheduled for 2020, the year after Brexit actually occurs, so if called now, will give her an extra 2 years to see Brexit and it's ramifications through.

Makes sense, the Tories will most likely wipe the floor with any opposition and that will give them a clear run at Brexit and dealing with Scotland.

I hope to God she doesn't resign because, if she does, I'll be lucky to get 20 Baht to the Pound on my trip.

Sky News have spotted that the lectern is one used for political purposes, her health is fine and she is not going to resign. Thank you, God !

May has stated that she doesn't like being PM but will stick with it until Brexit is complete. So looks like an election.

Another factor that could be influencing an early election, is that a clear message will be sent to the EU 27 that this Government has a clear mandate during the 2 years negotiations.

Could be a health-related resignation. She's not young. That or a GE she knows she'll win.

She's putting the boot in to Labour, the SNP, and the Lords right now. Says they need to be tamed over Brexit and that's why she's calling a GE now. Understandable, I suppose.

    FUKKKKINNNNNNNN' HELLLLLLLL!

I was hoping she was going to announce that as the PM of the great nation of Great Britain, she's listened to the will of her fellow patriots and was going to tell Trump he can friggin' stay home.

There speaks the man in the street. The country will doubtless get the government it deserves. Thank God I no longer live there.

If the torries win big as polls suggest.
Don't you folks need 2/3 votes to hold an election?

Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the Labour Party has said recently that he will support the call for an election. He is a total prick but even he is not so stupid as to oppose it now.

That's rich coming from a guy whose country has a Victory Monument to celebrate victories it has never had.
