"The Shield" actor Michael Jace charged with wife's murder

The grass is not always greener on the other side. Michael Jace, who starred in movies like “State of Play” with actor Russell Crowe, and appeared in films ranging from “The Replacement” to “Forrest Gump.” His most memorable role, however, on the hit FX’s series “The Shield” as Julien Lowe, a Christian Los Angeles Police Officer who is conflicted about his sexuality. Jace also had a recurring role on another cop series titled “Southland,” though he only appeared in four episodes from 2009 to 2013 on the TNT cable network. Now, the 51-year-old actor is being charged for the murder of his wife.

According to Associated Press, the actor’s wife, 40-year-old April Jace, was killed on Monday night at the home the couple share with their children in the Hyde Park neighborhood. Apparently, at the time of the homicide, the couples children were in the home. Public records show that Mrs. Jace had taught in public schools for the past 10 years.

CNN reports that police found April shot to death in the home, Los Angeles Police Detective Lyman Doster said in multiple reports. The actor called 911 to report that his wife had been shot, said Detective Dean Vinluan, and by further explaining that the actor "was on the phone with the operator." They were reports that the neighbors - who had also heard gunshots - called the police.

A police report states that it may be some sort of connection to domestic violence. "At this moment, the motive of the murder is believed to be domestic violence.”

According to Det. Doster, Jace was booked with homicide charge early Tuesday morning. The actor was booked into the Los Angeles jail and his bond was set at $1 Million. It’s reported that the actor would not appear in court until Thursday. Prior to the suspicion of killing his wife, the actor has no previous criminal record.

I vaguely remember him as I stopped watching The Shield as it was far too PC for my taste .
Didn't he play a cop suffering from early onset gayness;
who seeks out to get cured ?
No doubt the PC producers used it as a vehicle to ridicule the idea of homosexuals getting better, but I didn't bother to find out.

Well, innocent until proven guilty, but if he did do it, then I'll have to add it to my bulging doctoral research thesis paper:
''Actors who play homosexuals - it always ends badly..''

They always seem to end up with deep psychological problems - as if acting sick and insane affects them.

Despite a career that included steady but small acting roles in films such as Planet of the Apes,Boogie Nights and Forrest Gump and the TV series Southland, Jace had been experiencing financial difficulties for several years. In 2011 he filed for bankruptcy protection, listing between $500,000 and $1 million in debts, including the Hyde Park home.
