    Easter in London

It has been unusually hot, 27C here

the tourists are out in force, spending their Euros and dollars

The London Eye is very popular

they do like a nice British queue

very patient these foreigners, not like the Brits

anyway, down the South Bank a bit, my daughter was quite taken with something

    so after a coffee

we went and had a look

it was a sequential fountain game - get inside without getting caught by the water spouts

    we liked that the best
    I have reported your post

I just walked me local beach, its about a 5 mile long shingle beach.
All winter no more than 2 people, today its packed must be at least 5,000 people out.
Its bloody hot down there i kept thinking of Bangsean Beach at the weekend packed, will be there next week.
But the most disturbing thing was some huge women in bikinis, looked like basking walruses.
Oh and all the dog owners letting their dogs shit on the beach.
At least Bangsean has no dog turds or walruses.

Good pics,England is kinda nice when the sunshines and the temperatures rise.

I just come back from the North of England and enjoyed the beautiful Spring weather in York and the Lakes this last couple of weeks.
Nice pics, and your daughter looks dead cute.

Looks like i'll not be watching the parakeets with my old Nan for much longer

Problem parakeets to be removed 'before it's too late'

A whole species of parakeet is to be removed from the wild in a bid to stop them wrecking infrastructure and domestic wildlife 'before it's too late.'

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) announced that it planned to round up all 150 of the monk parakeets living in Britain and re-house them in aviaries.
Failing that, the Government department said it would even resort to using lethal means to stop the destructive species, which originates from South America.
Although they may look pretty, the green-and-yellow coloured parrots are known to have been causing havoc in our country since being introduced in the 1990s.
According to DEFRA, they create sprawling colonial nests which have the potential to bring down power lines, causing fires and damage to nearby buildings. Despised by gardeners and farmers alike, the birds also threaten agricultural crops and native fauna.
DEFRA told Yahoo! News today: "It's a small population that is not indigenous to the UK and it affects our own wildlife. The way they nest is a massive problem. We need to take action now before it's too late."
The Royal Society of the Protection of Birds (RSPB), who are backing DEFRA's plans to place the parrots in captivity, said that as the warming climate in Britain becomes more suitable for them, we are sitting on a 'time bomb' with parakeets.
The charity warned: "Capturing them must be done now, before their population increases and causes problems like they have done in Spain and the US."
However, they did not agree with shooting them to remove them from the wild.
Speaking with Yahoo! News, a spokesman from RSPB explained: "We believe action is necessary as the species is known to be capable of causing considerable economic damage. We understand that it is going to be difficult to round up every individual, but hope that there won't be a need for lethal control."
According to DEFRA, the economic cost of invasive non-native species can cost the British economy £1.7 billion every year.

Why would you say that? I'm sure that many wives of the people who post on TD are immigrants to the UK. Why do you want them 'rounded up'?

I have a few pics of one in a tree in Hammersmith. I had never heard about the parakeets in the UK until I saw the one. There were a couple of them flying around that day. That was last week when we had the amazing weather.

Nice pics Dr Andy and I'll start a thread on my visit here next week. :-)

It's probably better to watch it on TV anyway. We've just decided to do that because we can see everything. We'll go out there in the afternoon.

Doc I give you a green for making the effort to post up your photos but I red you for posting in such a shitty small format. Whats wrong with 600 by 800?

The subject matter is piss poor as well.

    You have done much better.

    Anyway carry on.
