Flood water control, I'm an expert

Heres what I think they should have done, first off the operations center for when it all began should be put in a likely flood area so it has to be evacuated, now this is the clever bit, when you move it put it somewhere else that is likely to be flooded and really show the world how fuking dumb you are.

Chatuchak - which houses the headquarters of the new government Flood Relief Operations Centre (FROC) and the Mor Chit 2 bus terminal - is directly north of Victory Monument in Phaya Thai district and the Din Daeng expressway exit. Both landmarks are now under threat from the flood water, which yesterday spread farther down Phaholyothin Road and the VibhavadiRangsit highway.

Quite often I mistake Thai's for normal human beings, hopefully I will learn from my mistakes.

You know yourself that The Thai do some things well.
One must agree they are really good at big shiny temples and er err er, their food is quite good but that's about it.
They don't do planning or organization, so this example is actually not a mistake because the other thing they are superbly equipped for is denial.

It was recently pointed out to me by a that that Thais are brilliant. They can carve pretty flowers out of vegetables. Yes, that is what was said to me.

It might have been a tactic to show unity with the flood victims, the fact that they were all getting affected by this together...

Then again it just looks like they are really stupid at organising. There seems to be no ability to plan more than one day ahead because they can't control fate.

The term 'kit maak' can't apply to the real world....

Seen it on a personal level with the girlfriend - when I ask about plans for the future she just replies something like "I'm only planning what I'm going to eat today"..

If I heard that, I would think about booking a room on the top floor at the Hard Rock and jumping off the balcony.

Blame the education system and the method of politicians being chosen

    all corrupt and inherently flawed

why should the sibling/brother/sister etc of some rich person be the most qualified for the position? because they are, obviously, until they need to show they are, then it all falls apart
    I have reported your post

It can be quite charming at times, certainly doesn't bother me to the point where I would consider jumping off the top of the Hard Rock... And she does make some great food. The relationship works well - she has her food department and I lie in the hammock planning and contemplating the future.

I am a detailed planner. That would just bother me. Probably not enough to jump, but you get my point.

I do get your point but would probably plan all that wrong and land safely in the pool anyway...

planning in Thailand always lead to disaster, this is my experience here

I am starting to think the locals know something we don't,

unlike in a civilized country where planning is a must, here it is a bit pointless and only leads to frustration

One of the first things told to me by a Western educated Thai, 25 years ago was; "A Thai only thinks about two things; what they're going to eat tonight & who they're going to fuck tonight".

Maybe 30 years ago the BOI, Board of Investment might have gathered around a big meeting table to discuss how they could get hundreds of seemingly intelligent foreigners to invest hundreds of billions of baht on factories built on low lying paddies on the flood plain outskirts of Bangkok. 30 Years on and seemingly with zero due diligence done (said foreigners were probably too busy getting their cocks sucked on sukumvit) said foreigners are still thinking the Thai are stupid and companies like Honda have 300 vehicles floating around in their car park

    Real stupid them Thais

300 vehicles ahhh... just another write off.
Thais have to worry now, that Big Companies are not going to be floating out of the country. Never mind the fllood and the water, the real problems are yet to come.
It looks like they will end up sucking their own cock

    so which is correct?

I like to plan for any job that I am about to do, get the tools and materials sorted etc

what else can you plan for?

as for BF, your problem is your planning, you don't factor in the various delays and frustrations living in Thailand can bring

so, therefore, your planning is useless and bound to lead to disaster

Here's another example of Thai expertise to help flood victims.

Yesterday it was announced that all electricity bills will be reduced by scrapping the FT charge from next month.
I have been totally unaffected by the floods but will benefit from this.
The people who were seriously affected by the floods had their electricity cut off.

Another example of Thai genius reported yesterday

Bangkok Senator Rosana Tositrakul explains how water-push devices help speed up flood drainage in Khlong Ratchamontri in Bangkok’s Bang Bon district

I think the look on the face of the lady second from left in the picture sums this initiative up.

someone quoted that there was 5 billion tons of water to the north of Bangkok trying to get to the sea, and that the outflow from Bangkok was a maximum of 5 million tons daily

use your simple maths and those devices would be just a drop in the ocean, so to speak

Thai folks can be real simpletons - even their leaders. When I read this stuff, I am genuinely embarrassed for them.

Anyone would be a fool to invest in this country. It would better to invest in Iraqi Dinars or some Ponzi scheme.
