    Parent's rights or Nanny State?

At first I was pretty disgusted . . . actually that hasn't changed . . . but the argument about circumcision makes sense, though it doesn't excuse what this moron did.

Child's tattoo: disfigurement or poor parenting?

A judge is set to decide whether mayhem charges carrying a potential life sentence will remain against a Californian man who had a gang tattoo etched onto his seven-year-old son's hip.
At a preliminary hearing on Thursday, lawyers for Enrique Gonzalez and tattoo artist Travis Gorman argued that a tattoo does not meet the statute's standards of permanent disfigurement.
They also raised the issue of which is more painful and permanent - a quarter-sized tattoo or circumcision?
Fresno County Superior Court Judge Hillary Chittick said on Monday she wanted time to think about whether the mayhem charge was warranted.
The duo arrested in April are members of a Fresno street gang. They also are charged with crimes related to furthering gang activities.

Gang members should be encouraged to explore castration as a gang membership ritual.

Think they would be dumb enough to fall for it.

Look at his right eye brow and his name.
That should be enough to put his ass in prison for a few years at least.

But Nawty has a good idea as well.

There really is no option other than to convict this fool.
If they don't then a president is set, the next fool who dose this to his kid will make it bigger and no doubt in his idiotic gangland mind increase his "street cred".
If this "street cred" mentality plays out to it's conclusion you will end up seeing kids with facial tattoos.
    It wasn't me!

At least he was old enough to decide on that eyebrow piercing . . . as for his name . . . well . . .
As for 'Mayhem' having the potential of a life sentence . . . never heard of it, but if that's what it is . . .

That's the problem, isn't it. If this is deemed legal and not 'disfigured' then what will the next dickwad decide to do to his children

nup, not in NZ. 18 is 18 and no debate. My dad would have given me consent if he could but he couldn't. But I got a dodgy tattooist to do it anyway.

The Jews have a religiously historical precedence dating back over two millennia and they stop at circumcision.

These idiots will not stop at small and hidden tattoos, they only agenda is to reinforce their gang for the futer and to impress their piers.
All this at their children's expenses.

Indeed. I think its wrong to remove a childs 10 skin (Hey, not trying to show off or anything) or tattoo them. Let them choose when they are old enough. Poor little bastard might not want to be a jew or a gang mamber when he grows up...

I think this is amusing -- the far left campaigns to defend Polanski for drugging, raping and sodomising a 13-yr-old girl for which he fled to Switzerland in 1978 to escape charges, but you's all in a tizzy over this?

I wanted to know if the kid wanted it. Hard to tell from this info: husband and estranged wife disagree.

Gonzalez granted his son's request for the tattoo because the son begged "I want to be like you," the defense says. But the prosecution says Gonzalez held the boy down while Gorman forcibly applied it.
Either way, says Levenson, "I don't know if children can readily give permission for a tattoo."
In court this week Gonzalez' estranged wife, Tequisha Oloizia, testified that her son suddenly refused to change clothes in front of her after he returned from an Easter break visit with his father. "I thought it was a boy thing," she said.
A few weeks later, as he lay stretching in his pajamas, she saw a black mark on her son's hip.
Gonzalez told her the tattoo was "the result of a misunderstanding" and promised to have it covered with flesh-colored ink, she said.
Instead, this month the boy began laser removal at a local doctor's office, performed after a topical application of painkiller and a local injection of lidocaine.

Its not just Jews, but also Muslims and animist and traditional religions and beliefs - to which I would also say that there should be an age of consent.

I'd agree with <egads> the kiwi Reffo

why do you believe it is the "far left" that is upset, Jet?

do you have any proof about the rest; drugging, raping and sodomising, or are you just making it up

all he was charged with was legal rape, because she was underage

do you know if she was a virgin, if her mother consented, anything else?

The following excerpts are from a transcript of the March 1977 grand jury proceedings that led to Roman Polanski's indictment on charges of furnishing a controlled substance to a minor, lewd or lascivious act on a child under 14, unlawful sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 18, rape by use of drugs, perversion (now called oral copulation) and sodomy.
Polanski later pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse; prosecutors dropped the other charges.
the other charges were dropped, either because the prosecutor did not believe them, or that they were impossible to prove

    US plea bargaining stinks sometimes

Yep you're right, the legalities would be too broad and complicated if they left it up to religious and or cultural beliefs,
A blanket 18 and over ruling would work better
