I have a cousin called Peta. I have not seen her since i was a toddler meself. She was born and raised in South Africa.
Tats apart you do sound a trifle dull Peta. I hope you are not my cousin.
I am sure you are a lovely person Peta, but preaching the value of abstinence here is perhaps a lost cause.
No offence intended. Especially if it turns out we are related.
nO c han ce off mee geetin damentio o r sufrin de prezzin 2nite, hick!
Well, im Singaporean and have never been to S.Africa so it would seem we are no relation..thankfully..because i dont think i would like to be related to a person who sums up another persons personality based on a couple of sentences and the fact they abstain from alcohol. In turn, personally i find its usually the non-drinkers that are more fun to be around and the drinkers to be the dull ones. Mainly because it seems alcohol gives them a false sense of being interesting to others, when all they are doing is overdramatizing and talking your ear off. Also, seems to give men a false sense of attractiveness, where they not only talk your ear off, they think its sexy to dribble on you.
But, im sure you are a lovely person chassumui (of course i dont mean that in a sympathetic patronsing way, even though i dont know you.), and not prone to overdramatizing (you must have a better grasp of English than I, yes? So maybe i dont have a good understandiing about what what constitutes as "preaching"..but its not a term i would apply lightly. Particularly as i dont recall actually telling anyone that they should live their lives as non-drinkers. I think its up to others what they like to do. I was giving my personal opinion and choice, not forcing it on others (unlike many drinkers, who seem to always want others to drink "Go on, have a drink" "Have a drink" "Loosen up!" going on and on and on like that, etc etc etc))
For the record i dont think all drinkers are this way, just as i dont think all non-drinkers are bores for not drinking. I guess its down to other peoples perceptions and how they sum up others based on superficial elements.
Oh, and I should also add in the subtext of "no offense intended" to cover any possible offensive comments, regardless of being related to anyone here, or not
..and I just realize i sound like i have been drinking..meaning going on and on about something which probably is uninteresting to others, so, time i went out and did some non-alcohol related funstuffs involving a pool and a bikini and some splashing around, but probably WAY too boring for you guys!
pics !!
Invite Peta up to the survivor plantation Nawty.
I reckon you could get some great pics in those rapids along with the bikini and all!

Thank you for taking the time to reply. We probably know more about you now than we do about many posters who have been on here for thousands of posts.Originally Posted by Peta
Perhaps my use of the word preaching was a bit heavy handed. Would advocating be a better choice.
I am glad you are not my cousin because it is ill advised for cousins to interact in a certain way, and you sound interesting enough for me to be glad you are not my cousin.
On reading my post again i find it could easily be interpreted as offensive.
This was not my intention. Thinly veiled sarcasm perhaps, but not offensive.
Regarding the merits of alcohol or abstinence, i have tried both, and although i have seen many droolers and dribblers, i have also witnessed the sober bores dribbling and drooling. At least i have a good excuse if i dribble or drool. (Thankfully it does not happen very often). If i am not in bed by 10pm i go home.
A belated welcome to the site, and i look forward to many more interesting discussions.
Indeed i am!Originally Posted by Peta
