I'm asking because my parents emigrated from Germany to the U.S. So the story goes my dad threatened to leave my mom if she wasn't willing. She relented and spent the next 17 years trying to get back to Germany. She hated so much of the U.S. . . . and still does. Never a good idea to coerce someone, though I'm not implying that's the OP's friend's case.

It happens in most of the west CMN. People are not very smart when they deal with foreigners

as for the girl, she was a bargirl so probably has little education and plenty of dreams about the west...all untrue

she obviously misses her friends and family. Anyone who leaves their social support group for the first time gets homesick and culture shock, even Westerners

as has been said, she needs to speak Thai, eat Thai food and generally be able to find people in similar situations and have a moan.

Once she finds a Thai friend, she will soon meet others, and maybe start to feel better
    I have reported your post

I haven't been able to figure out for nearly three decades why this is always said. Of course I base my opinion mostly on the dawgs who married Filipinas not Thai ladies. And also all the Filipino families that are in the USA courtesy of the old treaty with PI where they could join our Navy in Subic. Thes people aren't rushing back to the Philippines by the way to lieve back in their home or wife's country where they could live as good if not better than those of us who love Thailand. Why is that ? It's because they know how to live within their means and not try to keep up with the Jones family... at least until they've actually caught up to the Jones'.

There are some very interesting statistics about Asians in the US ... like 60% have a college degree ... represent over 5% of the Armed forces ... and Asians have the highest median income in the United States bar none. In my mind ... rich/or poor ... Filipinos are comparable to Thai who go to the US anyways. I'll use myself for an example ... I'm just a plain old ignorant trailer trash dawg who stayed in the military for 28 years but if I chose to return to the US my uneducated Thai spouse would have a $7.50 an hour job minimum from jump street in just the first year. That's not too shabby when you ain't gots to pay for a gawd damn thing. Lots of people like that.

Inside scoop ... I personally know two Filipinas who I'm pretty darn sure they were bar girls once upon a time ... one of them is a SCPO/E-8 in the Navy now and the other is a civil service GS-7 bookkeeper ... both of them are making well over $50,000 a year without an American degree.

There are even a handful of Thai fellas runnin' around here who somehow were able to get into the US military. One of them doesn't speak Engrish for shit so I don't know how he did it.

Just two cents from the piggy bank in my trailer

I divorced my first wife because she wouldn't move back to Thailand from Australia. Re OP I wonder how it seems to be so easy to get a visa for a BG to The US, I would have thought they would be put thru hoops to get there but a couple of Bg's I have known seem to have got in quite easily.

Did she ever want to go in the first place? Sounds like it wasn't her idea to begin with.
Like Dr. Andy said, she dreamed about the west, but didn't understand the reality. Nor should she be expected to. Thailand is a very insular place. But he should have known better. To be honest, I am still angry that he ignored sound advice from his mates. He takes one two week vacation and thinks he has Thailand figured out. He spent 90% of his time in Pattaya, and didn't like Bangkok because the whores were too expensive. The fokwit didn't even bother to check out the temples in Sanam Luang. Who goes to Thailand and doesn't even bother seeing the Grand Palace/Wat Po/ Wat Arun? The most impressive tourist site he saw was the Royal Garden and Big C. Fok it. What a dumbass. I'll just report what happens when she finally loses it. When a Thai reaches their breaking point, they really go fokin apeshit.

That's not the end of the story. I understand what Dr Andy is saying just have a different view of it. What you can add to my opinion above is that what can and does happen is the young ladies from poor countries are cool with what I described above initially ... but it all starts to go wrong when they slowly get Westernized and want more ... more ... more. Want to run up the credit card ... a bigger car payment and a bigger house for more junk. In other words they start to forget where they came from and think they should have the same gawd damned rights as those who were born there to go deeper and deeper and deeper into debt. Problem is it's "Ole Boy" who really has the responsibility for taking care of those debts when the relationship goes south. (This is where I think njdesi's friend needs to get his head ...)

I think I've mentioned in the past I've never applied for a green card or visa to take me better half to me homeland, right ?

Sounds like a bit of culture shock for the girl. If she is only young(in her twenties) then I am sure that she had an idea of the US in her head that she probably got from different stories that other Thai women tell about life in a foreign country. Unfortunately Thai women tend to tell a few porkies when they are back in Thailand and talking to their friends about life in the west.
I know my wife took about 6 months to get used to Oz.
If she truely loves the guy she will stick it out which is something that Thai women are very good at. Only time will tell.

I believe I understand how she feels, since as a Thai woman, I also came to the US on a Fiancée Visa. I was in that position 15 years ago and was miserable for the first two months. Every time it rained I cried, missing my home. While Curious George introduced me to the local Thai community, I only found one true Thai friend. The only person I could talk to was CG. Lucky for me that he tried very hard to help me through all of the rough times. Without that support, I would not have stayed in the US.

According to the dates I see, she has not been given a chance to adjust yet. She has been in the US about a month, and when making a total move to another country, she probably feels lost. I feel very bad for her. Not only she have to adjust to the new country with new culture, she have to adjust to her future husband, his mother and a daughter from his previous partner. That is a lot of change to make at the same time. I would hope all will work out for them.

If she has a past that she would like to put behind her, she needs to forget it and look toward the future. If she truly would like to change her life around, this is the opportunity for her to do so. She will have to overcome this problem, no matter how hard it may seem to be. With true support from family and friend will certainly help her get through this.

I know about 12 Thai ladies who are wives or girlfriends of Sailors and civilians here in the Yokosuka, Japan area.

** 2 are wives of elementary school teachers (One of them undeniably a prior BG...take away all those tattos though and she's normal)

** 3-4 are wives of Sailors and embarrass the other Thai wives ( )

** 2-3 probably don't even know what a BG is and work at the bank, MWR or NEX.

** 1 is a high falutin ex-bg no doubt and the wife of a 0-6. (One rank from General equiv)

** 1 is about 25 ... has been here since she was 12 and speaks multiple languages ... acts like a seppo girl.

** A couple don't associate with the other Thai wives at all. And a couple have been here with their farang husbands for a couple of decades and they must way 200 pounds each.

Now that I think about it I know more than 12 here.

They've all adjusted in their own way to life outside Thailand.

I love Japanese ramen ... but fug me if me ole lady ain't got to dump red peppers in hers when we eat out

There is an area just up the trakcs about 45 minutes called Hinodecho that used to be a red light district till about a year and a half ago. Japanese did a pretentious crack down on the prozzie scene which seemd to target the Thai ladies cause the Filipinas are still all over the place. Anyway, thee are a few little Thai markets down there and restaurants.

One Thai girl here in Yokosuka buys all kinds of stuff on frequent trips bak to BKK and comes back with suitcases full to sell to the Thai ladies back here. She fuggin' rapes them with what she charges them. There are spices that cost 10 baht back there that she sells here for 200 baht.

My JN tappin' days were between 1979 - 1996. None of them ever did all that whinin' crap ... they stuck to the task at hand ... what I really love about'em is how quickly they cream ... JNs are the only women I'd snack on a first date.
