    Your say: Deadly 'choking game'

A dangerous "choking game" has become popular in Australian schoolyards, with children as young as 12 taking turns to asphyxiate each other for thrills.
The game has gained notoriety in the US where it has been blamed for 82 deaths among children since 1995, most recently last month's strangulation of a 12-year-old boy in Colorado.
Now Australian kids are also trying their hand at the dangerous pastime according to teenagers in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales, who have told ninemsn the practice is widespread.
Former Queensland high-school student Tanya, 19, said groups of up to eight girls would make daily trips to the toilets to press on each other's chests "until they fainted" at her school in Pine Rivers, north of Brisbane.
"It was initiated by the popular, pretty girls," Tanya said. "Some of them were basically addicted. Whoever did it was considered cool."
Scientists say the choking game, which is also known as the "black-out" or "knock-out" game, provides a brief feeling of euphoria for its participants brought on by cerebral hypoxia — effectively oxygen being deprived from the brain.
Former boarder Gary, now 21, said he was one of about 15 students who would take turns to be choked so he could wake up on the floor "with a tingling sensation".

When I was a kid (1950's) it went like this: The "victim" would hold his breath and squat down on his haunches wrapping his arms around his knees. The "accomplice" would whack him really hard with his fist in the middle of the back. This would cause the victim to pass out and, with luck, wake up with a big rush.

I remember being lectured by Mom about how dangerous this was. Some kids never woke up.

    There's nothing new.

So does the 'choking the chicken' game, and it does not require the cooperation of others, but don't do it in a school playground .... especially not if you left school quite some time ago.

Erotic asphyxiation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Erotic asphyxiation, asphyxiophilia, or breath control play, is the practice of a person (called a "gasper") of intentionally reducing the amount of oxygen to their brain during sexual stimulation in order to heighten pleasure from orgasm. It is similar to a practice by some youth in modern times which is known as the "choking game" which provides a sensation (impending loss of consciousness) described as "cool" even by pre-teens. [1] In the United States, a 2007 report indicated that the risky behavior is claiming up to 1,000 adult or youth victims a year nationwide, according to FBI statistics. [2] It is a major cause of accidental deaths by hanging

Bloody hell never heard of this ... only life threatening stuff we used to do was nearly drown ourselves skin diving or in surf. Remember some kids used to sniff white out and the indigenous folk sniffed petrol. Bloody taking turns taking turns to asphyxiate each other for thrills is friggin mad. I heard that some mad bastards do something similar whilst shagging ... anyone tried that?
