Still a very sunny day in PI, south of Manila, but awaiting the arrival of Mangkhut. It's scheduled to make landfall in the north tomorrow ( Fri). Just another day in PI...
An 83 foot wave was recorded today and this thing has gotten bigger it is going to pack a massive amount of storm surge.

As Hurricane Florence approaches, thousands ‘pledge’ to shoot their guns at the storm
More than 30,000 people have marked themselves attending a Facebook event titled Shooting Guns At Hurricane Florence To Scare It Away — and 73,000 more said they are interested in having a shootout with the downpour of rain and strong gusts of wind.
“Get your guns and your umbrellas,” the page reads. “And your umbrella-guns, and your beer, and your beer-guns, and your tiny umbrellas to keep your beer dry, and join people from all along the East Coast in scaring away Hurricane Florence to protect our country from this foreign invader!”

Some of the best the east coast of Australia gets is when there's a half decent storm in the ditch.
^re: posts 18 & 19 - GF is a Filipina, like me. She's used to typhoons.
Overcast skies here today - doesn't look good. Started getting really cloudy yesterday afternoon. Classes suspended in all levels (public & private) in my province & others too - preventive suspension by the local govt. No rain yet - the calm before the storm. Will report later today if there's anything significant & my net allows it.
Edit: it's expected to bring winds of 205 kph & a 6-m storm surge in Cagayan province up north, eastern side. It looks scary (and I'm not easily scared by typhoons).
