Dave, does your mother live in her own home?
My dad is 86 in a couple of weeks. Going strong. He's just bought himself a new CRV to celebrate. If not for him, my mother (84) wouldn't be able to manage living at home by herself.

^She lives in a very nice retirement home. Lots of retired military officers, Federal government types, and high-end businessmen. It's a good place. Lots of company, activities, etc. She has a beautiful apartment on the 8th floor with a view of the woods - it also has the full range of medical care, including an in-house hospital floor.
You just reminded me of a funny story about a nursing home I once read by an internationally acclaimed American fantasy author, named Philip Jose Farmer.
It's a bit naughty, so I wouldn't spoil your thread by posting it here, but did just post it in the "Jokes And Funny Stories" section of TD.
