    Saved by a Myanmar couple

I confess. I had way to much to drink and probably had no business trying to pilot the wife's scooter home from my local. Even though it wasn't all that far. I thought I had done a brilliant job just making it to my soi, but then I got to complacent, the result was me and the scooter in a soi Side drain, I lay there for a while wondering how to rectifying the situation, I had lost a bit of bark but wasn't feeling any pain. Lo and behold a couple came buy and saw my predicament . Dragged me outta the ditch and took me home. Turns out there from Myanmar. Very non judgemental they were. Nice people

I was well chuffed. This lovely couple came along and helped me out. I probably would of been there all night. Still got some nasty exhaust pipe burns though, not the first time ,

Glad you are alive and relatively well. My experience with Myanmar people has been that they will go out of their way to help you. Some of the friendliest and warmest folks I have met in SE Asia so far.

Got a few nasty burns back a while myself. I put those fever reducing cool sticky packs that are for kids on the burns and it helped sooth my bingeries

im glad you said that. I've only been to Yangon the once but really enjoyed the vibe, for short of another wat to describe it, kinda like a mix of India and SE Asia.

Glad you're okay, BLD...At least, so far...That question mark at the end says it all, though...

Now, if she'd done the same, what would your feelings be?...

    I know, I know...We've "all" done it...

But we all know some sad endings...

    Luck was with you, mate...

    Cheers...

    Maybe hire them as drivers.

Actually, I usually get on great with the neighboring lot - Burmese, Cambodian and Lao, much nicer than than the Thai. Perhaps they aren't indoctrinated from birth that they are the greatest, bestest and most brilliantest, and everyone else is unfortunate scum.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet there buddy. I've seen the way they drive in Vientiane. You must have landed on or near the sidewalk or chances of being run over are a grave bet.

Glad to hear you're ok, somebody has to buy me Beer Lao next time around hey. I missed you last time and that was poor planning on my part. I should have allotted more time there for beer drinking and the like.

Sadly I had a five pack of new cotton Hanes boxer briefs for you for Christmas as I recall you mentioned the lack thereof in a post a while back. Sounds as though you could have used a pair about now.

That river road (Thode or something like that) was all tore up a few months ago. Looked like they were reworking the sewer systems. That would be the shits to land in that mess. Again glad you're allright. Take care of yourself man. Good luck on the mend and have a beer Lao or two for me. I see nothing wrong with drinking like..................the fish.

And, somehow, they seem to be becoming even more obnoxious.

Yeah, that's the knock on affect of outwardly believing that you're superior, but observing that you clearly are not.

Causes the Thais a lot of inner turmoil. The poor feckers.

How ya today, BLD? Bet it hurts a bit more this morning.

Yep. It sure does. More bark missing than I thought, plus a hangover and a massively unimpressed wife.Anyway, prior to getting on the piss yesterday I had booked a flight to Australia next month haven't told the wife yet, she wants to go more than me so I suspect I will have totally redeemed myself,

The daft cnuts are ruder than ever in the tourist areas. And all this at a time when the baht is ridiculously strong and the image of Thailand in the western press is a dangerous hellhole where even 70 year old grannies get set upon by gangs of Thai "men."

The worm's turning though with people waking up to the pleasures of nearby countries, and let's see how long the Chinese put up with this shit in the Land of Frowns.

Got a pretty good deal with airasia via KL, booked a hire car,now just looking at airbnb for a gaff to stay, kids are coming to so need an apartment I think. Land on the 7th. haven't been for about 5 years, I'm probably in for a reverse culture shock

A few years back I got seriously drunk in the local in the village about a half mile from home.
Got on my trial bike 250cc and rode home, I fell off on a small back lane , I couldn't get the bike off and I fell asleep with bike on me, this is in the middle of rice paddy and sugarcane country.
At about 6 at night a couple found me got the bike off and give me a lift home
It was a stupid thing to do, there are all kinds of snakes etc.
I learnt my lesson, I had some nasty insect bites and was the talk of the village
    Ting tong ferang eh mate

While still in my teens, training MT in Khon Kaen, I got a flat tyre on my motorcy about 20 km away from town... family in a pick-up, took me and my bike to a motorcy repair shop in town... I will never forget the kindness shown to me on many occasions.

Whatever we say about Thais/Laos, I'm sure deep down we all luv 'em.

Good decent people still exist there, despite all the arseholes and space cadets...

To be fair, there is often a reason for that.

Imagine being a local and having to endure some of the alcohol-fuelled, idiotic, lowlife Westerners who go to Pattaya or Phuket.
