My flat in Newcastle cost 45k in 1999/2000

I bought my first property in Patong, Phuket. It was in the very first condominium built there. 28 sq. mtrs inclusive of bathroom and balconey.
Bought off plan for 265,000 Bt in 1989.

Far cry from the million quid isn't it.

2024 a million quid for a house. I presume that is a three bedroom detached. I would hope so.

35,000 1992.

About 1980 on Saipan. 13,000 square meters of land for US$8000. Materials to build the house, which I built myself, cost about US$17,000. We later added two bedrooms and a bathroom on to the house for US$23,000.

Small 3 bedroom cottage on 11 acres for 48000 quid in 1995, put on an extension, now a 6 bedroom house valued recently at 1.2 million, plus I sold a half acre site a year ago for 180000. Prices are insane for property here right now.

My mother and fathers house has been valued at next to worthless.

The builder who made the smalle estate was a cowboy and didn't compacy the earth or foundations (something like that) so there is severe subsidance in all the housses. The insurance company for the builder is going to honour the insurance contract and has fixed two house so far. 150k for one 200k for another nearly a year to do.

Mum and dad aren't worried though since it's a a ten year insurance coverage and it will get done if not doesn't matter since it will be left to my brother sister and I to sort out.

Was only built a couple of years back. Builder did a runner, but had it insured for some reason.

They will have to take down all the non supporting walls and lift all the floors. Basically rebuild it from the ground up. There are two houses on the estate that are empty and I belive the insurance company has organised a lease arangment so that people they move out to fix their house can stay there. If not they have to put people up in suitable accomodation.

The old man says that a marble now rolls from one end of the kitchen to another. there is an inch or so gap between the kitchen floor and the skirting board.

95,000 Quid in 1996 (4 bedroomed place in the North Bedfordshire villages). Probably worth over 300,000 quid today.

My first house, a small three bedroom bungalow cost $AU 10,800; sold it seven years later for $49,000 and bought a large four bedroomed house for $60,000.
Sold it 28years later for $280,000 and bought my current home mortage free.

Just under 60,000 GBP at the time.

A few of my friends back home have got houses together to be able to afford it. Don't know how many of them would be needed for a million quid though.
