Where to buy lamb in Japan/Fukuoka

Me and my missus are on holiday here in Fukuoka for 3 weeks. We are staying at my mother in laws house.

Anyway, her family has been so gracious and kind to me, I was thinking I would like to cook them a meal of roast lamb as a token gesture of thanks (they have never tried lamb before)

I have been to tenjn, local supermarkets, etc... no luck.
Dr google hasn't been of help either.

Any of you fine gentlemen know where I can find a choice
    Cut of lamb?
Welcome to join us for dinner and beer, if by some fluke
    You are in town.

    Lamb is overrated.

Go with a good cut of mutton.

Risky selection, Dick. Lamb is not popular in Japan. My wife is a chef, well-traveled and will eat almost all foods, but she is Asian (well Filipina, but close enough) and she won't touch lamb. Says it's oily and has a strange texture and smell.

Good luck with dinner and on your quest, but I'll be surprised if they line up for seconds.

    Italian sounds good, pragmatic (cheers)

Yeah, the meat guy was the only thing I could find in google.

Would prefer a local butcher - but might be worth a crack.

    Thanks guys domo~ Baaaaaaa

    Google translate.

Find the name of the town in local language

Then separately google Butcher and then Lamb

Stick them all together and you get the results .

Works the same in Thai and most any other language.

Second this. With few exceptions Asians are not big on lamb. They say it smells and tastes funny. I would really think carefully on that choice - they are of course going to be polite - but forcing it on them?

    Hmmmmm.

My Missus loves lamb which is not a good thing considering the price of it in Thailand.

A liberal coating of Wasabi would fix that

Mine too. Not saying Asians cannot come to love a bit of lamb, just that it is an acquired taste for them that can take some effort.

My wife will cook it, she just won't eat it. Which is fine, as I don't really like it that much either.

yes the old lamb roast. i never go out of my way to eat english food, but just a couple of years ago i had a yearning for roast lamb, one a week i indulged. got past that when the bastards gave me a slice of lamb over a few slices of pork. never been back and lost the need too.

Yet they'll happily wolf down some stinky dried squid, fermented fish paste or a vomit inducing bag of fried insects.

    Funny old world.
