You could buy a cheap glass top coffee table with one. (can't guarantee it would take the weight but....)

And, knowing my luck, i'll buy something for 1 quid and they'll give me change for two quid. Spot the "foreigner" trying to figure out what coins are what!!

I was thinking more about licorice allsorts in the pound shop.

And yes, the last time i drank a medium sized medium dry white wine it cost me 2.50. and the only reason i did that was because i needed change from a tenner to get a 1.50 bus ticket to my mums.

2.50 for a glass of vino!! For once, i can say some things are cheaper in Switzerland!!
