Two men who are serving sentences for brutally murdering gay men have become the first British inmates to marry.

Mikhail Gallatinov, 40, and Marc Goodwin, 31, are serving life sentences in the same prison, both for violent and fatal hate crimes against gay men.

Last Saturday the two murderers married each other in the visitor center of Full Sutton Prison in Yorkshire. Their vows stated they were "soul partners" and included promises to be "forever together".

The couple were given a plastic knife to cut their small wedding cake, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Several convict friends attended the small ceremony along with a few relatives and Gallatinov’s parents. Four prison officers were invited as guests. The ceremony was policed by six on-duty prison officers.

Goodwin is serving an 18-year sentence for what was labelled "a gay-bashing spree", in which he beat a 57-year-old man named Malcolm Benfold to death.
He has ten years left to serve, the Guardian reports.

Gallatinov - who is also a convicted child molester - is serving a twenty-year sentence for the murder of Adrian Kaminsky(28). He met the man on a gay hotline and was convicted of strangling him.

Having served almost eighteen years, he will be eligible to be considered for parole next year.

However, Gallatinov was described by his judge as "a dangerous young man [who] present[s] a considerable risk to the public in the future" for the "callous, chilling and apparently motiveless" killing.

The Manchester News reported that Gallatinov's psychologists in prison have labeled him "psychopathic".

Gallatinov’s parents, who attended the wedding, told the Manchester Evening News that they are "proud" of their son "being a small part of history".

Speaking to the Mirror, the brother of Goodwin's victim said that the ceremony was, in his opinion, a "trick to get early release".

"How can you go out and kill a man for being gay and then have a gay wedding in prison? I can’t see any logic in it", Tony Benfold told the Mirror.

A spokesperson for the Prison Service told the Independent that "if prisoners do get married, the taxpayer does not foot the bill for the ceremony...and they are certainly not allowed to share a cell".

The wedding was the first of its kind in Britain, following the introduction of the Equal Marriage Act last year.

Under the Marriage Act 1983, all prisoners have the right to marry where they are being detained.

Loopers a midget? Dwarfism is the only possible explaination for those little stumpy legs and out of proportion torso. Classic disproportionate dwarfism.
