I'm leaving Oman on the 10th, but decided not to head straight home.

Instead, I'm going to Sri Lanka for a few days - never been before. I've booked a direct flight with Oman Air, and a hotel (well, it's a guesthouse really...), only 20 minutes drive from the beach, for a couple of nights. I'm gonna do nothing much. On the beach, a few beers, walk up and down the beach, a few more beers, eat something, and that's about it. Just for 2 or 3 days then I'll fly back to Bkk. I've told the missus I'll be home on the 15th or 16th (I didn't lie to her, but I was conservative with the truth, and I chose my words carefully).

Negombo. Not the most exciting pace in the World, or even Sri Lanka, but better than Croydon...

I decided to have two weeks R n R in Phuket before flying to Bangkok..

The little nosy fekers will check your exit n entry stamps.....

That's a fair point; I'll doubless get rumbled, but a few relaxing days may well be worth it.

Actually, it's a very average beach by Sri Lankan standards, but 20 mins from the airport, relaxing for 2 days then hop on a plane back to the missus; it'll do...

If you really are just going to sit on the beach then lying about it is not worth the risk. Why would she mind you stopping for a bit of sight-seeing? If she sees your passport and sees you lied she will assume you were up to no good, then your protests of innocence will fall on deaf ears.

So may as well get a legover while you are there!

Stopping off at a sri lankan resort for a few days after a period of separation rather than returning dire tly home to be reunited with your wife will only be taken by her as a sleight.

So either fly her out to join you there, possibly after youve been there for a couple of days on your own, or have your break as planned but make sure you cover your tracks and take all necessary steps to prevent her from finding out.

It's a much better idea than lying (or just not telling her), but I've got to admit, I'd be disappointed if Mr NR had been away for a long time & wanted to go somewhere for R&R before coming home to be with me. I'd wonder if something was wrong with our relationship. Not a trust issue so much as a "why don't you want to be with me" one

Just tell her the cheapest flights were through SL but a stopover is required. Even if she doesn't believe you and suspects you want to stop in SL it is better than lying about going there at all as you will forever have to be cagey about letting her look at your passport. Bit of a pain in the ass that would be and hardly worth the 2 day trip.

I stayed in Negombo (2 weeks) for my 50th. Have to warn you that it's the GAY capital of Sri lanka but maybe you already knew that

cause i didn't prior to my arrival.

Great beach until the Tamils arrived resulting in a military take-over for 48 hours. Hotels guests being confined to the grounds.

On a plus there are some great restaurants in the area and the locals are well friendly, especially if you are gay!

I wouldn't recommend hiring a taxi as the drivers are crazier than the Thai's.

I'd be disappointed in Mrs99 if, after 9 months of hard work, I wanted to stay a few nights on a stop over at a nice resort in Srilankan beach before returning to the BKK hustle. I mean it's been 9 months ffs what's a few more days. If she had an issue I'd tell her I have to visit my mia noi in sri lanka and stop being a drama queen. She'd probably be happy for me though and want to come. I think bringing her over would be a nice gesture but if she bitches and moans over a few days it's a bit high maintenance for my tastes.
