As someone who helps with some of the organisation of the Phuket Tens (though nothing in comparison to Pat Cotter) I feel immensly proud to see that Pat Cotter won the IRB Spirit Of Rugby Award at the IRB dinner last night.
The charity that receives the money raised by the tournament keeps young disadvantaged children in school on scholarships, many of whom are Orphans of the Tsumani. Currently I believe the number helped by the Phuket Tens is 92.
I was invited to the dinner last night, but Bangkok to London is a long way to come for an evening, so I declined. I now regret it. Pat and Roelein from the charity were treated to business class flights by the IRB and I know from his text messages over the weekend that he thankfully suffered at Twickenham on Saturday.
WELL DONE PAT, WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!!!
