It seems Southampton DOF Jason Wilcox has resigned his position and is off to Man U.

    Great finish.

    Betty will be ecstatic.

The red card looked a bit harsh though. I thought there was another defender who would have got there to cover.

That Ipswich left back (Davis?) looked a threat going forward all night though.

How bizarre it is to watch two consecutive days of football with players actually, like, running and tracking back.

You'd love to be next to me anytime, you Big Shifter!

It was a good night of championship football.

West Brom managed a draw v Watford who seem to be in decent form.

Leicester did Norwich (frankly, I hoped they'd both lose.

Sadly, Leeds picked up a late winner.

Ipswich did their usual late press after falling behind - lucky to win again, but against better teams, we get lots of good results.

Are Bristol City starting their much promised (well, not really...) push for promotion???

Just a good league to watch.

Norwich away will be a tough game for us next weekend.

Looking at the table, if you exclude the 3 ex-premiership teams and their $$$ and excellent squads, Ipswich are 19 points ahead of all the other teams - we were division 1 last season. I don't think we're that good, but scoring goals and piling on the points.

Six games left with a few tough ones in there - I suspect all 3 top teams will lose a game or two, maybe a draw or two thrown in too, before the end of the season. Still, we're on 9 wins from the last 10 games.

West Brom need to make sure they get 2 or 3 more wins; they've been solid all season, but could slip? I think they'll be fine.

Bristol City? Could be too many points away from a play-off place.

Norwich score a lot of goals, so are always dangerous and will be in the play-offs.

For automatic promotion, you have to go for Leeds and Leicester, but Ipswich are in with a chance.

The top six all have tough games today:

Norwich v Ipswich - two top six teams. Norwich were very lucky to get a draw at Portman Road earlier in the season. Both teams have poor defences, but score lots of goals.
Blackburn v Southampton - Blackburn need points because they are not safe from relegation, so Southampton could lose points?
Coventry v Leeds - Coventry need points as they are one place behind a playoff spot, so Leeds could lose points.
Leicester v Birmingham - Birmingham needs points as they are only one place above the drop, so Leicester could lose points.
Stoke v West Brom - Stoke are a good team, but in the relegation battle and need points, so West Brom could lose points?

Should be a good day of football. There's a good chance of a change in the automatic promotion spots.

    In other news:
Sunderland v Bristol City - mid table, not a lot to play for as neither will make it to the playoffs. Sunderland at home, Bristol City in better form...

Leicester will tonk Birmingham, and I can't see Leeds losing.

Albion will have to be patient and put a shift in.

If they do that they should have too much for Stoke.

This is an interesting graphic - it shows that Leicester have the easiest run in (but an extra game to play, and points on the board is always nice) whereas Ipswich and Leeds are similar, but I'd say Ipswich have the toughest run in.

You cannot be sure because at different times, lower teams will need points to avoid relegation, get to play-offs, historical rivalries, etc.

(I don't like the look of that...)

Ipswich could be saved by Leicester having Plymouth away (who need points), West Brom (who are not 100% sure of a playoff place so would like points), Saints - it's at Leicester, the graphic is wrong... (who are a very good team on their day) and Preston away (who will need the points to get into the playoffs. Maybe Leicester will just drop more points than Ipswich in these games? I hope so...

Re-editing... Norwich, Coventry, Preston, Middlesbrough and Hull, especially away, are the teams to avoid - Ipswich are f''ked...

Yeah, I was thinking that's a nice last game to have, at home, if needing a win... But, Blackburn might be on the beach too, and Southampton just resting players ready for the playoffs?

It's all to play for. The only certainty is that Southampton will get a playoff place.

West Brom should get at least 3 wins and be in the play offs too; very nearly safely there (but, not quite... )

Well that was a crap half... Looked like two average teams... The ref was Norwich's best player.

The mighty Bristol City are playing Sunderland today, a big match as they're neighbours in the table.

But even with the clocks going forward last week, kick-off is still after my bedtime.

^ Mid table, neither can make it to the payoffs; both should have done better this season.

Fuk me, that was dire - to lose to that shower of shite. Two poor teams, and a very poor ref.

The good news for West Brom and Sothampton and 1 other is that Norwich will be the worst team in the playoffs by some distance if they make it...

Well, that turned out quite well at the end of the day (luckily)...

Five games to go, a difficult away game out of the way and still in a playoff position (for how much longer?).

    Indeed, utter shite.

Need to put in a good performance and get the win at home to Watford on Wednesday.

Buuut, you have some tough fixtures and need to get two or three wins to stay in the top six; Coventry are coming to get you...
