Watched 'Gone Girl' last night. It had some interesting plot twists, but it got bogged down with excess plot. If they had cut about 45 mins, it might have been able to keep my attention better. 6/10.

This one is way out of the box for me.

"The Help". The story of black women in the early 1960's who work as maids for rich white families in Mississippi, certainly the most racist state in America. It's the tale of how they view the families they work for, and the white children they've reared from birth.

I've seen this on movie lists for a long time, and finally tried it based on an 8.1 rating from IMDb.

While normally I would discount this as a 'chick flic' or a fat Oprah movie choice, I found it to be really interesting - funny in parts, quite disturbing in others.

    It's a long movie - 2.5 hours. I'd rate it a strong 8.

Will be interested in other reviews....might have just caught me in a weird mood.

An excellent film with a great viewpoint. As you rightly say, disturbing at times. Some great acting too.

You asked that on December 9th. It was answered - repeatedly - with numerous links over the next three days.

    Hi wacky

I really enjoyed this movie although it came with an unsatisfying ending. But one explanation for the rather insipid end might be that it paves the way for a sequel !!BI'd give it a 7.5 out of 10

    Frank

An off-beat kind of comedy about a want-to-be musician who joins up with a pop band lead by Frank. Frank, who everyone adores, wears a mask 24/7.

Not a laugh out loud movie, but one which makes you smile, right up to the heartbreaking ending.

The amazing thing about this film is even when wearing a full mask over his head, the actor gets across his emotions well.

It's worth watching, but not great IMO. I've been finding lotsa great Brit TV lately here: IMDb: Best of British TV 2014 - a list by tanjuvdl Plenty of good spy dramas on the list, but for me 'the Game' is 2nd tier. Just watched W1A last night & it's a pretty funny BBC parody.
Appreciated, very helpful. BTW, those files from KA won't play on my TV...now i'm rendering them.

He's so convinced that he's the real thing I don't think he wants to be in them any more. The silly little pecker head.

    The Equalizer.

Loved it. I can't normally handle 2 hours of the same program but I was glued.

Don't have to think, just action and Denzel being as cool as fuck.

Downloading this right now. Seen it before and thought it was really brilliant. Just fancied a hit of Christopher Walken, my all time favourite actor.

    Fun fact # 34592

In his teens, Walken was a lion tamer with a traveling circus.
