Astonishing when the cgi combines with the 3d and the affect on the audience must be something like first seeing colour or hearing sound. In three hours nobody moved, played with a phone or even went for a piss, you could hear a pin drop. The only negative is that it's a good v evil story with nothing in between with cardboard stereotypes and a plot you can more or less guess. Some of the scenes on the planet are the most beautiful things in film I can remember seeing, I was blown away too, ah if only thai girls were like miss blue in the film, she talked far too much sense and had no silent moods, nowt like a thai alien.
good job n all, shouldnt adhere to stereotypical themes just to please certain groups, people, races
back to the movie, it was like watching a dream,i hope the rumours are true and its the beginning of an epic story, like star warsit will become a cult classic of our days, and i can honestly say the next generation of kids should love this movie too
ketamine-only fools and horses
The cream of American intelligentsia are moaning about the movie...
Subj: Avatar Interesting review relating to Marines~ don't support this
movie
From a friend, Semper Fidelis
I understand this is the #1 movie in the United States for the 2d week ?
Just what does that tell you ?
This was sent to me by a Marine I put through boot camp in 1967.
I don't know how Hollywood gets away with using our name and emblems. I
think it is against the law and hope the Corps does something about it.
Semper Fi! Jack
To all those that might be interested a review by a buddy of mine who is
a Retired Army Ranger. He said it sickened him. He has a lot of respect
for the Marine Corps and this movie really pissed him off. Jim
Hey all, I just wanted to warn all of you about the new movie Avatar. I
love Sci Fi and for my birthday, I decided to go see Avatar. Well guys
let me tell you, DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY. This is the worst piece of
left wing Garbage to come out of Hollywood in a long time.
The premise is, that we Terrible humans, have raped and pillaged our own
world and now are Destroying some other world for its' minerals.
Nothing new right? And of course, the main bad guy is some ruthless
Corporate stooge who will stop at nothing to meet his quota; also
nothing new.
But this movie takes a very wrong and despicable turn when U.S. Marines
are brought in to basically annihilate the peaceful, forest loving, and
very human looking, indigenous population.
The CO of the Marines ( and they are called U.S. Marines and bear the
Marine Corps crest on their uniforms) is portrayed as a hard boiled
murderer of innocent people and who gleefully begins a Genocide that
includes women & children.
The Marines themselves, are characterized as mindless killers who enjoy
the slaughter of peaceful aliens.
The worst insult, is when a Marine, who is genetically altered to look
like an alien, turns on his own buddies and joyfully begins to kill his
comrades. The movie actually wants you to cheer for the aliens as they
begin to kill and maim the mean & evil U.S. Marines.
Let me tell you guys, this movie is anti military, anti American, and
anti Human race.
It is Hollywood, liberal, bullshit at it's very worst.
In my view, any one who sees this movie and is not bothered by the very
clear message it sends, has a hole in their very soul.
^ blimey, its sci-fi at its best, science and fiction, nothing more.....
guys only got the hump cos the marines got another thrashing, albeit a virtual one,in 3d too

Anti human race, are these people serious
Why should the American military always have to be the heroes? I thought it was meant to be science FICTION anybody reading anything into it like Afghanistan/Iraq/American Indians are wrong, it's just a STORY.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

Another forum I belong to is mainly populated by Americans. I have to be really careful what I say on there as they really can't stand anyone having an alternative opinion that doesn't conform to what they've been brainwashed into believing. A few ex-Marines on there too, so I'll probably not make any comments on their Avatar thread.
My best buddy here was a US marine in Nam, he saw it and loved it.
why would you go there in the first place ?Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

Saw it yesterday with the wife. Had a hard time convincing her to go but she loved it too, just like me.
The story is limited, Star Wars was better but it is visually overwhelming and not only due to the 3D effects.
However I should have taken a pill against travel sickness. My stomach is very sensitive to this kind of interference.
Pretty to look at, but I think it would have been better with a happy ending where the blue freaks didnt win
^Try the South Park version Dances with Smurfs, season 13. I believe they do get wiped out. Sorry, was that a spoiler?
South Park Episode Player - Dances With Smurfs
Just saw it yesterday night and really loved it.
Don't understand your comment. They didn't harm anybody and lived peacefully in their world. What's wrong ?Originally Posted by slimboyfat

Oh dear, it's upset all the gun-toting, Obama-hating, Limbaugh-lusting, Fox News WASP fucktard dittoheads.
Well that can only be a GOOD thing, surely? I like it even more now.
3D capable HDTV's have been on sale for a while now.Originally Posted by DaffyDuck

From what I've read, 3DTV either needs a picture refresh rate of 120Hz or higher, or the glasses need to be able to simulate the effect by refreshing each lens at 60Hz offset by 0.5Hz.
Hollywood Foreign Press Association gave Cameron Best Director and Best Picture.
Quote of the night, from Ricky Gervais introducing the next presenter. "I like a drink as much as the next man. Unless the next man happens to be MEL GIBSON....."
Is his rehabilitation over now? Has he been forgiven by the Blue Suede Shoe mafia?
