This is the message I have been getting for the last 2 days.

We will be back as soon as possible, but this will probably be a prolonged downtime.
Thank you for your patience

Me to....hope not
That message comes up once a day. I wouldn't worry about it, it always comes back.
Shit, sorry, thats a different message. I just tried it and mines down too.
Bugger! Hope it returns, actually I think this may have happened once before??
I like Demonoid but have been a bit pissed off at it recently, I've been seeding the bejesus out of torrrents and my ratio's stuck at the same level (actually it's even slightly down).
^
Yep, their ratios are all fudged up. Went from 4 to less than 1. And it ain't moved since. So much so that when I d/l new torrents I often remove the demonoid trackers, reload them later when the file's complete in the hope of knocking that ratio up a bit.
Annoying innit, especially when you've gone out of your way to get and maintain a decent ratio.
I was up close to 6 at one point, it dropped and now similar to your experience it seems stuck permanently on 1.67 no matter what I do.
maybe the Russkies have fvcked it upDemonoid is one of the biggest torrent sites around. Now fairly peacefully hosted to the west of Russia in Ukraine, the site has previously received unwanted attention from both music and movie companies. So when the site goes offline a lot of people start to think of the worst, especially if there is little or no warning. During the next few days, maybe hours, Demonoid may go down due to some serious-sounding technical issues. They have already caused some damage to the site so the operators want to limit further damage.
“We are experiencing power outages that have caused some ram and hard drive issues. We might have to shut down everything to fix and prevent further damage,” they say in a statement.
The downtime could be extended, “…days maybe, until we can change the power circuit,” they add.
Several Demonoid users already report connection issues, but the site is still accessible to most people at the time of writing. The blackout won’t mean much to millions of Russian and Ukrainian BitTorrent users though, since they are already blocked from the site.
Over the years Demonoid has had its fair share of downtime. In June 2007 Demonoid was pressured to leave their host in the Netherlands, mainly because of legal threats from the Dutch anti-piracy outfit, BREIN. The site then relocated to Canada, but after threats from the CRIA, it decided to shut down there as well.
In 2008 the site eventually reappeared in full glory after being offline for six months. This time the downtime shouldn’t last that long. Any Demonoid users stuck for ideas on alternatives if the site goes down, can check here
Its been like that for a few days now.
I'm in NZ, same thing.
isohunt normally includes the demonoid trackers and you don't have to worry about your ratio
I do keep an eye on my ratio for puretna though
Plenty of other trackers put there like ISOHunt, BTJunkie, TorrentReactor etc. No point worrying about ratio's on Demonoid, they rarely track them properly and I doubt they ban anyone with a crap ratio. Its essentially a public tracker with a login.
Yea, they dont give a stuff any more, not like they used to anyway.
So is it dead, gone, kaput ??
it was the only site I used.....any other good ones out there ?
Found this.
Thanks for your interest to post your question here about the demonoid. After a deep enquiry, it comes to know that demonoid got some technical hardware problem. since they have dedicated server for torrentz, they cannot redirect their URL to some server which can be lend.
But is is pretty sure that they will back in a sort time. Im sure about this because any of law, acts will not bond demonoid, because think about the mininova, Mightynova, Meganova, H33T, ISO hunt, Sumo Torrent, The Pirate bay etc., these torrent tracking sites are still alive.
so, this is purely technical problem and demonoid will be back soon.
Thats good to know. I hate using those other places.
This place is good. They dont allow crap, and you must keep a decent ratio, or your membership is revoked. The only problem is, they're not accepting new members at the moment. However they say that they're pruning inactive accounts all the time.

I aint superstitious, but I know when somethings wrong
I`ve been dragging my heels with a bitch called hope
Let the undercurrent drag me along.
From Wikipedia:
On September 1, 2009, Torrentfreak reported that a few days of downtime was likely to be imminent, due to RAM and hard drive damage suffered by the servers during power outages. A statement from the website said, "We might have to shut down everything to fix and prevent further damage," and that it could be "days maybe, until we can change the power circuit." The website went offline to all regions on September 14, 2009, and is still down as of September 23. A statement posted on the main page reads, "Maintenance: We will be back as soon as possible, but this will probably be a prolonged downtime. Thank you for your patience."
I'm sure they will be back, just hope they not let us wait much longer... My iTunes starts to show withdrawal symptoms!
Demonoid has some of the best uploads on the net, especially music. One I frequently 'borrow' from is the genre 'Blues'; the selection found at Demonoid is hard to beat unless you visit a lot of different blogs and download via Rapidshare, Depositfile, Hotfile and other sites.

The site will return as soon as possible, but there was a problem that caused data loss and the person who can help us get the data back is not able to help at this moment. The site will return when we can get his help
A loss of a some months worth of activity including registered users and torrent submissions is to be expected because the backup we are hoping to get back is not up to date, so please be prepared for it
Looks like something is happening... Just wondering if I'm still a member, still have a well balanced ratio and how far they go back in time. As I was getting a daily "Maintenance" message, I always assumed they were updating and making a back up... Wonder what they were doing instead.
Maintenance
Edit: There are some rumors about the site shutting down for good and we starting a new tracker next year. the rumors are of course, lies. There are no plans of shutting down or creating another site.
And there is NO official twitter/facebook/any other web community page for Demonoid. There are a few around that were created by fans and have no link to the site or staff.
The parts of the site code that got deleted are being rewritten and should be ready soon. We are also working to try and minimise the data loss as much as possible.
Thanks for your patience.
