Movie Review Sub Forum Suggestion

How about a movie review sub-forum? Reviewers could post a detailed review and then other posters could discuss it.

I am a movie fan but I don't post much in the thread since it's hard to see if a movie has already been discussed.

If it was a sub-forum you could do a 'sort by thread title' to find if a movie has been reviewed already (would be useful if thread titles were the name of the movie so that this would work) and then add to the existing discussion or post a first review in a new thread.

'jokes and funny stories' is a sub-forum and half the jokes don't have any replies. A movie review is maybe more likely to provoke discussion.

Just do a search and select to view posts, not threads.

Anyway, nowt wrong with more than one review of the same movie.

Good idea. As it stands you start discussing a movie and can lose track of it amongst the other reviews coming up. Think there are enough film buffs here to warrant it.

Don't review American Gangster. I watched the half I couldn't be bothered to watch the other night & wish I hadn't. As crime movies go, that was the worst ending I've ever seen.

I'd like to see the sub-forum.

While I'm here, I watched Death Proof again. I can't recommend this film enough.

It was better the second time around.

I agree, I didn't mean there is anything wrong with more than one review of a movie. It could be more of an interactive discussion though if the multiple reviews of a given movie were grouped in a single thread with other peoples comments and discussion about that movie?

If the Soprano's deserves a thread maybe the Godfather does too?

Well Sir Burr and CMN hurry up and give it a watch, it got some great reviews on imdb and rotten tomatoes and I heard it's up for oscar nominations, but I seriously cannot believe it. Would welcome opinions on it from both you guys because you both have a fine taste in movies.

Sir Burr is one of the few people that didn't wet his pants over Nicholson in The Departed and told it like it was. The rat impression he did just made me cringe!

^ Ah ok now I know what you are talking about, this is the Grindhouse movie.

I downloaded it a few weeks back just not got round to watching it yet. To be honest the name Tarantino added to a film these days is a bit of turn off. I only managed the first part of Kill Biil, couldn't be bothered to watch the second.

Death Proof is amazing.

It's very heavy on dialogue, which isn't very good, but it has the most beautiful girls is in (check out that cheerleader ) & a couple of great twists. The crash - you'll know it when you see it - is awesome & Kurt Russel is fantastic.

I do like Kurt Russel (not in the same way I expect to like the cheerleader) so I will give it a watch soon.

stupis me, I've seen it already under the grindhouse double feature which included planet terror.

I didn't like it much.
planet terror was by far the best of the two.

death proof didn't warm up till the last 15 minute.

I think we should close that thread down, and then put all the different movies in separate topics so we have a good start to the sub forum.

^I agree with bkk madness in much the same way that imdb does the same thing. You can go to any movie, and read the forum comments at the bottom. It helps consolidate all the opinions, and makes for more lively discussion of the great movies or controversial ones.

It also separates the men from the boys as to who knows his movies.

Nah, I like the forum the way it is. I don't mind multiple reviews of the same film, either. There are forums that do what you're suggesting - making a different thread for each film - but it gets convoluted and there are loads of threads with just 1 or 2 comments. I like them all in one thread.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm sure I'll get reds for this, but I stand by my review of American Gangster -- thought it was a fantastic film with good performances throughout.

^^ You know, on 2nd thought, I agree with you. This isn't IMDB. There would be lots of lost orphan threads and it would never achieve the mass to succeed like that. Keep it as is.
