best free music download site

all of my old music cd's are for the most part pretty well fucked.

where is the best site to download free these days? (60's to the 90's mostly)

i can download from youtube, but i don't want the video. just music for the car.

i used to use one called limewire i think, but that was ages ago....

I can't say whether it is the best or not, but it generally has the stuff I'm looking for.

Do you get movies from there? If not I'll tell you how it works.

i'm offshore now (india) with a painfully slow internet speed. but when i'm back in thailand with a slightly less painful internet speed, i'll respond and get the piss ripped out of me.

I wouldn't disagree. I am a member there (no invites) They have about 1.5 million torrents of all musical styles, although many are simply different versions/ releases of the same album. Quality excellent.
Once a member it is easy to d/l but i have found very difficult to maintain a good ratio.
( I have a poor connection)so Itend not to use it too much

if you can set yourself up with Utorrent pirate bay is pretty good for music.

utorrent is not that different to limewire.

I just use me Firefox browser mate I have a download managed installed ?? I think as I am a bit thick , merely type in either the album or artist I want then click on the tracks I want they go straight into iTunes all listed and album covered for me ,,, jobs a goo dun
