Try uploading pics of a reasonable size. This is not 2006.

Let me get this straight. The latest offering is chicken (fried twice), with fried noodles and fried mushrooms. Oh, plus a fair dollop of sauce that will be loaded with sugar and salt.

While I end to agree with Ants earlier comment that its difficult to work out what is actually a "healthy" meal, I am pretty sure that most would agreed that "fried" pretty much knocks food out of the "healthy" side of the debate.

I'd be more concerned with what the chicken has been fed.

^^ Yup...and there you see how someone who has been obese or close to it for the best part of a decade has managed to convince herself that she's diet conscious and just 'big boned'.

This time she 'got sick' and so stuffed herself for three months. An unusual side-effect of an illness, that.

And people who note such things are somehow 'jealous'.

    Go figure.

...not necessarily: a quick stir-fry with a few drops of olive oil is fine; pan-fried fish (with, say, a teaspoon of oil) is healthy...the frying medium is the message...

^Exactly, I think nidhogg is mistaking fried for deep fried. I'll stick with the former..

I usually use a small amount of olive oil to cook with.

Nope. While stir fry is better than deep fry, it is still worse than other preparation options.

Who wants steamed lamb chop? English breakfast of poached eggs (not bad), poached toms and mushrooms (meh), boiled bacon (sacriledge!) and boiled sausage (ok). Sometimes you have to give a little. Everything in modearation.

Steaming is healthy for veggies, but I don't own a steamer at the moment. I should get one.
    Broiling isn't bad.

I guess I can bake my chicken in the toaster oven, but I always find frying meat faster.

    What is wrong with grilling?

But the point being, so far we have had two meals, and in both everything was fried!

Why nid pointed out there are much healthier ways of cooking.

Get a wok as well, you need the heat if you are going to stir fry.

Then you need to post a down front shot of the stove to prove it.

    .
I think metal and bamboo steamers are readily available here.
    https://www.shanghaiexpat.com/news/5-best-places-buy-kitchen-msupplies-shanghai

As an interim a punctured tinfoil hat, a sieve or colander can serve to steam, I trust you'll post some steamy photos of your meagre repast. Some of the old puffers here are gasping in aunt tea sip Asian.

Any an old broiler has helped with portion control, as we all know with legunes it comes to wilt power.

Banan skins are not just for smokin' tho cabbage leaves are better, who knows a bit of sourkraut and you can be as popular as Stroller his stalks in aspic are epic.
