Cooking all kinds of egg varieties in micorwave

    Serious thread and question, here.

I eat 3 eggs per day scrambled with nothing added. I cook them on a pan with about 2 tablespoon of EVOO for the non-stick.

I have a gas stove, so using a microwave would be more convenient.

In general I don't cook and know very little.

I just watched ways to cook all kinds of eggs in the microwave: poached, hard boiled, scrambled, etc.

If any members cook their eggs in the microwave instead of a pan (or pot and water to hard boil),

    Is the taste any different?

Scrambled eggs are just fine done in a microwave. Just add a little milk, real butter if you've got some (if marge- don't bother), and Hint- a discrete smidgin of soy sauce. Mix up ( I just do it with a fork), zap for a while until they start rising and hardening- the time depends on the wattage of your microwave. Then give it another mix around, and finish the zapping. I doubt you can do better in a pan.

G Gordon Liddy used to heat eggs until they were red hot and then shove them up his ass. He believed this would prepare him for torture by commies. I suggest you give this a try, milkman. After all, you have nothing left to lose. Let us know how it affects the flavour.

^ Mebbe that's where the soy sauce idea originated- but it works! I was surprised to find, after several years of doing it, no less than Tony Bourdain advocating it too.

    Thanks for that, sabang.

I don't like adding anything, however. No milk, no butter.

I suppose they would taste the same or different from micro-wave cooking with nothing added?

When I use the microwave oven I get a smal hint of the micro waves in the egg white (but not the yolk, go figure), but it's bearable. I use an 800w oven. YMMV.

If someone can show me a pic of scrambled eggs done in the Microwave that look like this I'd like to see it:

I've tried to do them in the Micro but they're shit (compared to those done on a stove-top). But again, if someone has mastered it I'd like to know how because my attempts were total fails...

This guy's eggs look pretty close...but you don't actually see him put them in the microwave.

I gave my way above- just try it, what's to lose? Milk & real butter only though, + dashasoy. Comes out nice & fluffy. Add condiments later.

I've got to admit I tried years ago to do the scrambled eggs version and they just turned into rubber. Maybe our resident chef Chico can tell us how he prepares eggs in a microwave.

Thanks for the pics and comments Headworx (and others).

Yes, stove-pop popcorn is better and the microwave popcorn has oil with chemicals that are not good for us.

Stay away from the microwave.. it isn't that great for you!

Hard boiled (five minutes no less after it starts boiling) in a pot of boiling water.
Watch the time. If you want a soft boiled one, leave it after boiling for three minutes, no more, no less.

    Yum!

Use to do everything in a microwave. No stove at the time. Did eggs in microwave but now I use an induction stove. I found they're much better on the stove.

CS Microwaves are for poor people or lazy people.

Though saying that I believe the trick is to warm the milk(cream if can afford) with the butter first and then added the very well beaten eggs to the mix and then heat the mix, and continually keep whisking until the desired consistency, you may have to open the door of the Micro every 20 seconds or so to whisk, and season.

    Hope this fixes your problem.
