Rayong was suggested to me to live, when I come back this summer.
I tried search but could find nothing. Is there a fourm for Rayong?

Not a good omen, Rayong is an industrial city, not a popular destination for farangs.

Banned everyone; the lone thread is a FAQ.

There are a fair few expat falang living around Rayong city actually, most employed in the massive Mataphut industrial estates.
But if you're not working there, you would probably want to live in one of the nice beach areas either side of Ban Phe (a fishing port town, also the ferry point to Ko Samet) such as MaeRamPheung or Sam Seung(?). There are some falang there, not that many, but you'll find a western oriented bar or two around (theres a few in MRP), and there are some in Ban Phe.
I've been to MRP three times now, and met a few of the guys living there. Most look forward to their monthly or so trips to Pattaya, and the occasional run to Ban Chang. Some are living there on modest budgets, to say the least.
But it's a nice area, and cheap, with a smattering of falangs. If this is your first foray into Asian life, you are going somewhat into the deep end and may just find yourself retreating to Pattaya or somewhere else more falang oriented.
Ther's also a beach area near Ban Chang, that may contain a residual expat population- never checked it out.

I hope I didn't put you off Rayong- it's actually quite nice. I wouldn't have gone to MaeRamPheung Beach with wife three times otherwise.
Ideally, check out both places before deciding.

Go and check it out Whittler.
I would choose Rayong over HH any day.

    houses

I read that if a farang lives in a house it is likely to be broken into.
When you rent a house in Ban Phe, MaeRamPheung, do they usually
have bars on the windows ? Do they have gated communities ?
Would it be better to rent a condo ?

    Thanks,

    whittler

The only reason it is more likely for a farangs house to be broken into is they leave them without people in more often, generally a Thai family will always have somebody in their house, most houses have security grills, most houses are broken into thru the roof
