Thread: Tham Kra Sae Bridge- Kanchanaburi Feb 2015

Before we had made Hell Fire Pass we had stumbled along this Bridge, I never new it existed and only come across it as we run out of road.

The area is famous for it's Cave, this bridge and the awesome scenery. Seems to be a Thai's get away on the river. So we wandered off for a look see.

Heaps of accommodation down on the river side.

Play stuff for the Thais.

Moving right along.

This Bridge was built by the prisoners of war, once again a seemingly impossible task given the terrain and lack of real tools.

Off we go down the low road.

Watch out for the Train.

Follow the trail.

Start of another good thread. Good on ya Terry.

Decent sized timbers here, try hoisting them into position back in the 40's.

I'm guessing this would of been the original concrete base.

Replacement sleepers.

I suppose this is the original narrow gauge replaced by wide gauge. ?

Would of been fun cutting out the side of that mountain. Track continues on into Burma.
