I don't think that BKK can capture the madness that happens in Chiang Mai.The people here seem to change up a few gears...

So there is this floating lantern festival out in Maejo Chiang mai at this place..I am sure of you know about it.. 9 of friends came from BKK I havent se in a while to see it..



It began to rain a bit early on..



Not too bad so we got our ten floating lanterns ready..



The festivities began..



And then after three hours the lanterns started to float..





And soon the sky was full..





It was worth the three hour wait...



But then my buddy got nailed with some firey wax dripping from a lantern..



All and all it was a good time..

Nice pics CK, and it was good to meet you properly the other night at Frankie's.

For me, the highlight of this year's Loy Kratong was seeing the police drag a pickup truck out of the moat on Sunday morning, just opposite Somphet market. I bet that silly bastard had a sore head when he woke up.

I was on Beach Road Pty with many others and zillions of floats in various stages of returning to land, but had to comment on the lack of lanterns this year...for about 3 hours no more than perhaps a couple of dozen could be seen at any time...
