Can't argue with that, and with the RWC this year, time seems opportune as well.
    RWC? What's that?

I went to Netley in 1975 as part of an army fatigue party, setting up tents for a regatta at Netley Sailing Club. At that time it was the former services mental health centre. Service personnel were sent there to 'dry out'. A primitive clinic for alcoholics.

The Regatta was sponsored by my unit so I knew some of the guys involved. We helped haul the dinghys in and out of the water during the day and held drinking contests at night.
Never having sailed before I was detailed to crew for a retired general who turned up crewless. Got me started in sailing so not all bad.
Ironic but a mate had a caravan down there with 5 gallons of home brew maturing at just the right time. The hospital authorities would not have been amused.
