However, upon reaching the destination, the unidentified foreign passenger, who claimed to have mistakenly handed over a 1,000 Baht note instead of the 100 Baht notes intended for the fare, demanded change. The driver contested the claim, suggesting they resolve the matter at a local police station.

The situation escalated when the passenger resorted to physical aggression, slapping the driver’s face and grabbing his neck. The video, posted by a Facebook user on Monday night, April 29th, ends abruptly with no further details on the aftermath of the incident.


The local authorities have not yet released a statement, and the current condition of the Tuk Tuk driver is unknown. The name and nationality of the foreign passenger is also unknown.

British Tourist Held for Attacking Thai Taxi Driver over Fare

A 31-year-old British man, identified only as Mr. Luke, has been detained by police in Krabi, Thailand for allegedly attacking a Tuk Tuk taxi driver. The incident occurred in Phuket following a disagreement over taxi fees.

Colonel Khundet Na Nongkhai, Karon Police Chief, reported to the Phuket Express on Tuesday (April 30th) that Mr. Luke was apprehended at a hotel on Phi Phi Island by Koh Phi Phi and Karbi Tourist police.

The arrest was made following an arrest warrant issued by Phuket Kwaeng Court on charges of causing physical and mental harm to another individual.

The accused was moved to the Karon Police Station in Phuket. Colonel Khundet disclosed that Mr. Luke had neither made a statement nor entered a plea by press time, and declined to speak to the media.
