Tim Hortons’ is Coming to Bangkok

    Asaree Thaitrakulpanich
    Kao Sod English

BANGKOK — Tim Hortons is coming to town: hunker down with a steaming cup of dark roast, a sausage bagel, and a vanilla donut (though in the Thai heat, rather than Ontario snow).

Toronto-based coffee-shop chain Tim Hortons, whose donuts have a cult following, is expanding to Thailand, the company announced Thursday.

“We are very excited to grow the Tims brand in Thailand as part of our broader global growth strategy,” said Tim Hortons President Alex Macedo in a news release. “Thailand has a thriving coffee market and our partner has a deep understanding of the Thai market, which we believe will position us well for success in the country.”

That’s one chain I can’t see the appeal of.

Seems like just one more example of Canada never having an original idea.

The sausage bagel arouses some interest. What exactly is it?

    US version

    Tim Horton's doughnuts...meh

When I was still eating doughnuts, always thought Krispy Kremes were better.

    edit: btw...from last month

Tim Hortons is testing Beyond Meat’s plant-based sausages in select markets.

That looks promising. I simply adore these fast-food, processed breakfast confections onto which one dollops loads of ketchup. After an all-nighter when one has drunk deep from the well of plenty but fragility is the consequence, there is nothing better to induce satisfaction and repletion.

^You'll probably love the Beyond Meat "plant-based sausage" option too. Of course what's pictured above looks like it may already be beyond meat.

Oh dear, pancakes or possibly a double whopper, but not sausage patties surely. Even with the worst Ricard, champagne, red wine, cognac hangover, that is stooping just a little too low.

the trouble with a fast food joint greaseball breakfast is that it rapidly encourages the kind of ominous intestinal rumblings that just cannot be ignored, that's fine if one is on home territory, but if out and about then one needs to be within waddling distance of a public toilet and we all know the unexpected and stomach churning horrors that one may be faced with once one enters the cubicle of doom.

it is a brave man indeed who succumbs to the temptations of a fast food breakfast.

How generous from the falangs that they enrich the poor Thai dishes with their healthy food.

(wondering why nobody comes on idea to start Mc Bratwurst?)

I hope their donuts are better than the inedible, chew toy like pastries that passes for donuts at Thai Dunkin Donut shops.

I like donuts every now and then, but the Thai version is just awful.

Heaps of Tim Hortons' in Dammam/Dhahran/Khobar. Shedloads of Krispee Kreme and Dunkin' franchises too. The Saudis love them sweet carbs. I don't eat doughnuts, but I buy coffee from these shops. Dunkin' coffee FTW.

    Conceived in Massachusetts.

Lacrosse meanwhile predates the creation of Canada.
