On refection I am glad that Canada got this one.

I did not realise that Canada and KSA have some historical handbags with female politics.

Canada showcasing their escaped women just adds salt to the wound for KSA which can only be a good thing.

But going forward I think we should be putting our hands up for young female escapees from the kingdom as it drives these Islamic nations berserk when their women escape to the west as they they think these women are their property, and driving them berserk is an added bonus.

Also Islamic females are much better than Islamic males as refugees as they do not cause social unrest, they assimilate well and do not sexually assault our female natives. We should be rolling out the welcome mat for teh muslim laydees.

Yes, they told me off because on the immigration card where it asks "Do you have a criminal record", I wrote "I didn't think you still needed one".

Bahrain is 30th in the world league of oil importers; just behind Israel and just ahead of Finland. Bunch of useless, self-entitled cnuts... but what's new?

Back on-topic. The Bahraini footballer is indeed a stellar example of the double standards laid bare by this 'rescue' of a spoiled brat.

PS. It's not personal. I have worked in both Bahrain and Saudi and they are all useless cnuts and spoiled brats.

Got a lot of time for the Iraqi's and Omani's though. I made a bloody fortune in Saddam's Baghdad before Desert Storm blew the wheels off my wagon.

It hasn't been that way for a long time. Any oil pumped by Saudi for Bahrain comes from Bahrain's share of Abu Safah, and the stuff they import through the pipeline from the Eastern province, they pay for.

Any aid from Saudi is strictly a cash affair, and with strings attached: e.g. Bahrain implemented VAT at the start of the year.

Again: No it's not. He is a convicted criminal.

For pish, admittedly, but it does give the Thais pause (that and all the "ties" between the two "countries" *cough*).

Why did God put all this oil under KSA?

Was it some kind of fiendishly clever test to see if the rest of the world would still turn a blind eye to their socially retrograde sins?

You can't fault the bearded fella's sense of humour!

Looks like the Aussies dragging their heels saved the taxpayer a few quid.

Qunun had originally applied for asylum in Australia but confirmed it was the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees that chose Canada because it processed her application more quickly. “This wasn’t my choice, it was the UN’s,” she said. “All I wanted was for a country to protect me. So, my choice was just for any country to protect me.”

Thai immigration warn Kuwait Airways over Saudi teen

Thai immigration police bureau will issue a warning to Kuwait Airways for allowing Saudi teen Rahaf Mohammed Al-Qunun to board its flight to Bangkok although she had insufficient travel documents.

Pol Lt General Surachate Hakparn said on Wednesday that he planned to have immigration laws that have been used for more than 40 years reviewed.

The laws should increase the penalty for airlines whose staff did not check required documents including a return ticket for a passenger. The bureau chief is referring to the case of Al-Qunun, 18, who flew with Kuwait Airways to Bangkok on January 5.

She was detained at Suvarnabhumi Airport reportedly because her father alerted the Saudi embassy in Bangkok that she fled her family during a trip in Kuwait. During her detention, she tweeted that she wanted to travel to Australia to seek asylum as she was abused by her family and was being forced to marry. However,

Thai immigration police at the airport revealed that she had no air ticket to Australia. In case she wished to apply for a visa on arrival to enter Thailand, al-Qunun should prove she had an onward flight, the general said.
