BANGKOK, 16th December 2018 (NNT) – A 560-meter-long underpass along Bangkok’s Krungthep Kreetha Road was officially opened to traffic.

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Governor, Pol Gen Aswin Khwanmuang, said the underpass is aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in eastern Bangkok.

The four-lane underpass from Khlong Lam Sali Bridge to Soi Krungthep Kreetha 9 is a part of the second phase of the 12-kilometer Srinakharin-Romklao Road construction project. This project is divided into seven phases, in which only the elevated six-lane road between the Kanchanapisek overpass is still under construction.

It is reportedly 59 percent complete and will be opened for traffic in March 2019.
