BANGKOK, 9 November 2018 (NNT) -The National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) and the Public Relations Department (PRD) will jointly host a national country music singing championship for a Royal Cup and a one-million-baht cash award.
NBTC Secretary-General Mr Takorn Tantasith will preside over the signing ceremony for the cooperation between the NBTC and the PRD. Acting PRD director-general L.t. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd stated that the purpose of the event is to honor His Majesty King Rama X and Her Majesty Queen Mother Sirikit and to preserve the art and culture, as well as to promote Thai country music which preserves the unique uses of the Thai language and incorporation of local wisdom so that it will stay with Thai society in the future.
The singing championship will open for registration around January 2019. Eligible contenders must be aged between 15 to 60 years. Registration will cover 76 provinces including Bangkok through all eight areas of the PRD offices. A total of 60 contenders will be selected to train with leading country music artists and only 12 of them will be chosen to perform on concerts throughout the four regions of Thailand to spread and demonstrate the culture of country music, as well as to disseminate information and create understanding to the general population. The 12 finalists will also compete by performing three songs which include a Royal musical piece in both fast and slow tempos.
The winner of the contest will receive the Royal Cup designed by Master Chalermchai Kositpipat and will be bestowed by His Majesty King Rama X in addition to the one-million-baht award. The first runner-up will receive a Trophy Cup from the Prime Minister as well as a 500,000-baht cash award. The second runner-up will receive an honorary shield with a 100,000-baht award. The PRD will re-inform the public of the registration for the competition at a later date.
