BANGKOK, 13th February 2018 (NNT) - Titima Ngamtaveeratn, Senior Expert on Agricultural Trade for the Department of Internal Trade, has inaugurated an agricultural fair to provide affordable products ahead of Chinese New Year celebrations.

The fair gives people greater access to affordable agricultural goods and creates sales opportunities for farmers. There are now 128 shopkeepers selling a variety of products, including those commonly used in religious ceremonies during Chinese New Year. These items are being sold for as much as 20% below market prices, helping shoppers save up to one million baht in food costs.

The agricultural fair, which is being held in the multi-purpose area of the Ministry of Commerce, opens from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Wednesday. Up to three million baht is expected to have changed hands by the end of the event.

Meanwhile, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Kritsada Boonrat visited Bangkok's Chinatown to inspect the quality of farm products. The Department of Livestock collected more than 700 samples of meat products sold at three major fresh markets in Bangkok to test whether they meet food safety standards.
