BANGKOK, 27th December 2017 (NNT) - The Department of Probation and its network have launched a campaign to ensure that motorists abide by traffic rules and regulations to help reduce the number of road accidents during the New Year festival.

The Director-General of the Department of Probation, Prasarn Mahaleetrakul, said the network comprises the Royal Thai Police, the Thai Red Cross Society and Chulalongkorn Hospital.

Mr. Prasarn said approximately three percent of motorists who were on probation for drink-driving have returned to their drink-driving habit. He said it is necessary to assess law enforcement and probation measures to prevent these motorists from making the same mistake again.

To help lower the number of road accidents and casualties, the Director-General has called on travelers to be well-prepared and strictly follow the traffic rules and regulations.
