PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 19 September 2017 (NNT) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha plans to allocate some forest reserve land in Prachuap Khiri Khan to eligible farmers.
Deputy Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Governor Panlop Singhaseni said the premier has approved the granting of permission for the eligible farmers to use the allocated forest reserve land in the central region.
That is part of the government policy to allocate 1,178 plots of land in national forest reserves to the general public who can use the land as a group or as a community. The land ownerships will still belong to the government.
Some 900 eligible farmers will initially be allowed to use 8,600 rai of land in the province. The number of eligible farmers will increase by 200 and the allocated area will be expanded to about 9,000 rai.
The consideration of farmer's eligibility is at the discretion of the provincial land office.
Those farmers do not have the rights to resell or lease the allocated land. Any change of land users is to be reported to local village headsmen, with the land rights only being transferrable to the next of kin of the current land users.
