NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 6 September 2016 (NNT) – The Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 8 has delivered a policy directing all policemen to step up anti-human trafficking operations in accordance with the government’s policy.

Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 8, Pol Lt Gen Tesa Siriwato chaired the policy delivering assembly at Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police Headquarters, where it was attended by directors of police stations in 23 districts.

“The use of illegal workers on-board fishing vessels is a concern raised by the EU, as well as the Thai government.” the provincial police commissioner said.

He added that the police in Nakhon Si Thammarat should work closely with operation coordination centers to protect the nation’s maritime interests with a special focus on Khanom District, while a human trafficking case at Hua Sai District is currently being scrutinized by the court.
