I'm actually surprised that there isn't more blowback. You would think it would be a bad day for an expat to be wandering around a mall in Cagayan De Oro, but Flips seem to keep the focus on the perp, rather than using that broad TD brush to tar all foreigners.

I hope they do execute him, and I support the death penalty as a whole, but for governments to go back to torture (as they did in the Middle Ages) would be for them to sink to the same level as the people they are executing.

This crap in America now about the lethal injection drugs failing, and States having to buy them from anonymous sources because the European manufacturers refuse to sell them has gotten ridiculous. No one ever complained that getting shot in the back of the head was painful, nor is it torture and it works every time.

A more sensible discussion would be how to identify and prevent child abusers from settling in the third world, how to stop local men from partiaking with quite such enthusiasm and how to educate local kids that they can't be trafficked, sold by their parents, and how debts incurred in such processes are not their personal liability and duty to pay off.

This case is so horrifying that there is now a very serious push here to reinstate the death penalty....something I never thought I'd see.

I don't think it will happen, but a prison sentence for him works the same in the end.

He is a 53-year-old Australian accused of the torture and murder of children for his own sexual gratification that authorities are considering reintroducing the death penalty for.

Peter Gerard Scully, a father of two from Melbourne, is in a Philippine prison charged with some of the vilest acts known to humanity.

During court hearings and while being filmed in prison, the man believed to have perpetrated some of the worst crimes against children laughed, joked and acted nonchalant about his alleged crimes.

His former lawyer Alejandra Jose Pallugna has revealed Scully treats jail like a holiday and has demanded a mobile phone and fresh beef, pork and chicken.

But that may change now the Philippines is considering putting him before a firing squad.

And it is the fate of one victim in particular that has prompted appalled Filipino prosecutors to call for Scully's execution.


Shocking details can be revealed about the five-year-old girl who Scully hung upside down as he raped and tortured her with two accomplices.

Recording on videos which he then sold to paedophiles around the world, Scully also sexually abused a baby, and filmed his torture and rape of young girls as he made them dig their own graves.

Filipino police say Scully also buried a 11-year-old under the floor of a house he was renting after making a film of him raping her and strangling her to death.

Now the Philippines may reinstate the death penalty as the only punishment appropriate for Scully's "heinous crimes".

Capital punishment was outlawed in 1986 at the end of the brutal Marcos regimen, but assisted by widespread poverty, the country has become a hub of a billion-dollar, global child cybersex industry.'

According to a Fairfax report, during a court hearing where he faced the first six of 75 charges, Scully laughed and joked with his co-accused, who include four men, Christian Rouche, Alexander Lao, and Marshall Ruskin and Haniel Caetano de Oliveira.

Its one of the worst stories i have ever read. Among his multitude of depravity he hung a 5 year old girl upside down and raped her with barbed wire.
Surely nobody would complain if a Philippine cop just walked into his cell and blew the monsters brains out. They could make up any excuse they like.

What about the monsters that paid for videos like that?

Will there be protests and candlelight vigils in Australia for him from the anti death penalty groups, as there were for the [Australian] Bali drug smugglers executed by Indonesia?
