Bangkok Sex Venue Raid Turns Up Bribe List

    Bangkok Post
    November 3, 2014

Authorities raiding two city entertainment venues say they discovered a list of police officers who were allegedly bribed to ignore license violations and illegal sex services.

A range of illegal items, from methamphetamine pills to marijuana, were also found during the raid early yesterday at Khum Phra Ram massage parlour on Srinakarin Soi 49 Road in Bangkok's Prawet district.

A team of 50 police and military officers targeted Khum Phra Ram and the nearby Rider Resort, which opened as an entertainment venue and restaurant, after hearing complaints the operations lacked licenses and were offering sex services.

Soldiers say they found the list of police during their raid at Khum Phra Ram. It reportedly shows monthly bribes to be paid to officers from the ranks of senior sergeant major to police inspector.

Police chief Gen Somyot Pumpanmuang has ordered an investigation, police spokesman Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawonsiri said.

The list was typed and printed on the venue's letterhead, as though it were a formal document, he said.

The owners of the venues face charges including operating without a licence and offering sex services.

A particularly professional operation they had there.

At least one important name was missing from the bribe list - the supervisor that ordered the raid.

Wonder if they have a customer list?

Doubt it. Lacking Army names on the list, hence the raid. Business as usual with a different list being drawn up.

It looks like the military could be intending to take everything over. Aren't they on the list of those that don't have to declare their assets?

Khum Phra Ram and the nearby Rider Resort.

Nearby? Aren't they on the same site separated by a foot path?

Been there for supper (Rider's), a resort with Bikie pretensions. Actually Ok for a club sandwich and a beer. Next to the park where one can walk the dog.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

Prawes District Police Chief And His Deputies Removed Over Pub Raid

    Thai PBS News
    November 3, 2014

The superintendent of Prawes district police and his two deputies were on Sunday temporarily transferred to Metropolitan Police Bureau pending an investigation into alleged bribe taking concerning with a traditional massage parlour in the district.

Pol Col Somkuan Poengsap, the superintendent, and his two deputies for suppression affairs, Pol Lt-Col Padet Phuboompakarn and Pol Lt-Col Boworn Pengsuk, will serve at the MPB for 30 days pending the probe.

The probe and transfer followed a raid last Saturday night of the Ryder Resort pub and Khum Phra Ram massage parlour which are located on the same compound off Srinagarind road by a team of police and military personnel.

The raid netted some narcotics drugs and eight underaged migrant workers suspected to be sex workers for Khum Phra Ram. A notebook purportedly shows amounts of money paid to police from different units was also seized.

The owner of Ryder Resort pub said that he leased part of his land to the operator of Khum Phra Ram and had nothing to do with alleged prostitution.
