    When will it stop????

A 11-year-old student injured in an ambush in Narathiwat is still in coma

A 11-year-old student who was shot by militants in an ambush in Narathiwat is still in coma on Thursday, doctors said.

Six other students of Chanae school in Narathiwat who were injured in the attack were receiving medical treatment in the same hospital.

Doctors said Laila Mideng's condition is still critical as she was shot at her chin and lower jaw. She was now under close observation, they said.

The group of young students, mostly 11 years of age, was attacked on Thursday as they were returning from a sight seeing trip in Songkhla province.

it would take a special something to attack a group of 11 year olds...

something to do with yellow streak...

I don't care what their cause is, it's just wrong to accomplish what they want at the expense of kids...

If religion really is the root of all evil then this is the evidence.

Just as well it's a secular issue otherwise we'd be reading about real swamp stuff.

Apparently it started 100 years ago or something, but just happened to escalate in concert with other global Islamic issues. Praps they couldn't find any dogs to ritually behead.

It would be nice to know who "they" are, or which group they belong to. I tend to be a bit curious before I spout off.

I understand your curiousity however this might be a clue.

Islamic insurgents distribute leaflets claiming responsibility for Feb 18 bombings

Yala - Leaflets purportedly from "warriors of Patani Islamic State" were distributed in several districts of Yala and Songkhla Friday morning, claiming responsibility over the coordinated bomb attacks in the night of February 18.

The leaflets were found in Yaha, and Kabang districts of Yala and Songkhla's Sabayoi.

The leaflets called on ethic Malays in the deep South to continue the jihad or holy war against the "Siam oppressors".

The leaflets said the jihad against "Siam" was necessary as the daily prayers and holy fast.

The leaflets said "Siam people" on the Patani Islamic state would have no peace until they leave the land.

    The Nation

That being the case sometimes the obvious just steps up and slaps us in the face. It would be nice if everything was 'defined' as to motive etc., however in the case of organized terrorism that is not always the case.

Not good enough, doesn't prove that the peacelovers are behind every bombing, torching, beheading or driveby, and anyway that particular bunch of thugs may be doing a moody by claiming 'credit' that isn't due to them.

Go on, prove otherwise, and if you do then prove the ones you proved should not be discarded as isolated incidents.

Careful you won't suffer a seizure from all this 'thinking', keda!

Indeed we still don't know who did this, but, thanks, EG, we know that "warriors of Patani Islamic State" are threatening and advocating such incidents.

I know this is an irrelevant detail, which could get in the way of blaming ALL Muslims and inhabitants of Southern Thailand for this incident, but here a link to a summary about this group: Gerakan Mujahideen Islam Pattani (GMIP) Pattani Islamic Mujahideen Movement

My mistake, I forgot that when broaching an Islamic atrocity one must be sure to clarify that not all Muslims are terrorists, and in any case there are also Christian fundamentalists.

    Gerakan Mujahideen Islam Pattani (GMIP)
    Pattani Islamic Mujahideen Movement

The Gerakan Mujahideen Islam Pattani (GMIP) also known as the Pattani Islamic Mujahideen Movement, or the Pattani Islamic Holy Warriors Movement, is said to be possibly the only significant armed band operating in the lower South of Thailand. Its intention may be little different from simply seeking a breakaway of the four provinces at the Malaysian border. Since the September 11 terror attacks on the United States, the international terror group al-Qaeda has injected money and insurgency know-how into militant groups in various countries enabling them to climb out of their dormant state and grow rapidly. Thai military inntelligence sources suspect that, in the attempts to annex southern Thailand, Kumpulan Mujahideen Malaysia, based in Trengganu, helped to revive the local separatist groups GMIP and Barisan Revelusi Nasional (BRN). With support from the Malaysian militants, GMIP and BRN have been transformed into insurgency groups with a regional agenda departing from their past goal of carving out a Pattani state.
Malaysia's Al-Ma'unah wants to set up an Islamic state in Malaysia. Laskar Jihad and the Islamic Defenders Front want an Islamic state in Indonesia. Abu Sayyaf and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front want to form an independent Muslim state in the Muslim enclave of Mindanao in southern Philippines, while Barisan Revolusi Nasional and Gerakan Mujahiddin Islam Pattani want to do so in southern Thailand.
Yet not a muslim soul knows who ANY of these muderers are. Peaceful, reasonable religion my ass. Bunch of murderers is all they are and the ones that don't get these assholes prosecuted are just as guilty.

When does the rhetoric BS stop and the MUSLIMS themselves do something to stop this carnage sTroller? When do you stop saying how wonderful these muslims are and start getting them to do something besides talking crap? What amount of innocent people have to die before they understand that there will never be an islamic state there. Hell, the people of Malaysia don't want them to become a part of that country because of their radical thinking.

i do believe there is a large percentage of muslims whose hearts are not in this insanity. lots of fear and very little trust in the thai military whose hands are not clean in this matter, have helped maintain the silence.

Just grinning at the usual bandwagon that rolls along whenever such topic gets posted.
You were a little late, but thanks for clarifying once again that ALL Muslims are guilty. Keda will be grateful you straightened this out.

    Interesting link, stroller,

Defining the groups involved is a first step to locating geographically thir bases.

I resd in today's news of the layest military strike on an insurgent camp, and hope that the current military policy continues in identifying, isolating and rounding up of insurgents.

The policy of border control is at last showing results, and I think curfew systems proposed will add to the "netting" of small groups of insurgents. This will lead to aq lessening of their fire power and a disruption of their network.

    Then, next step.

That will depend upon the insurgents' reactions.
