    Malaysian tourist killed in Narathiwat

A Malaysian tourist was robbed and killed by two men who dumped his body in the bush in Sungai Kolok district of Narathiwat province, police said.

Pol Sub-Lt Kittipong Sritho, the duty officer of Sungai Kolok police station, said a combined team of police and soldiers, led by Pol Lt-Col Tawee Thongsongsri, the deputy district police chief, rushed to the scene Sunday morning after a report that the body of a man was found in the bush on one side of the road to Ban Nam Tok in tambon Pasemas.

The body was later identified as Tang Ah Loi, 50, a Malaysian tourist. He was shot in the head and the chest. The body was sent to Sungai Kolok Hospital for an autopsy.

Initial investigations revealed that the Malaysian man and two friends visited an entertainment venue in Sungai Kolok Municipality. He later left with two other men in his car.

It is believed he was robbed of valuables, including his Proton car, and shot to death by the two men who dumped the body in the bush.

Seems like more than simple robbery, incredibly brutal if it is. I wonder if this will have the same impact and response as the Australian tourist that was killed in a robbery recently? I very much doubt it somehow.

Warrant out for Malaysian tourist's killer | Bangkok Post: breakingnews

Warrant out for Malaysian tourist's killer

The Narathiwat Court has approved a police warrant for the arrest of a Thai man suspected of killing and robbing a Malaysian tourist on the night of July 8, Sungai Kolok district police chief Pol Lt-Col Taweesak Thongsongsri said on Tuesday.

On the night of July 8, the Malaysian tourist identified as Tang Ah Lo, 58, was killed and robbed of his valuables and his Proton car. His body was found near an irrigation canal at Ban Nam Tok in tambon Pasemas in Sungai Kolok district of Narathiwat.

With information from witnesses who saw the Malaysian and a Thai man quarrel in front of a PTT petrol station in Sungai Kolok municipality, a sketch was made of the suspect and it matched a picture of Sukaruno Da-o, 25, a native of tambon Pasemas.

Sungai Kolok police subsequently obtained a warrant for his arrest.

With the warrant approved by the court, police went to Sukaruno's house and found that he had fled, leaving behind the tourist's Proton car.

Police believe he may have fled over the border into Malaysia.

No, because who in their right mind would knowingly go on holiday to an area that's ridden with psychopaths and muslim fanatics?

I don't know about the Australians, but the Brits say:

We advise against all but essential travel to the provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla on the Thai-Malaysia border.
    Added:

In fact, the convicts advice is slightly stronger:

We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in Thailand due to the threat of terrorist attack, particularly in the provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla, where we advise you not to travel.
