Exclamation Non B and nearly expired(?) WP

    Hello,

First time poster here. I'm in a situation like this: I have a Non-B visa valid until September this year. I got a working permit that expires, together with my extension of stay, in a couple of days. I tried going for the visa run in order to get a 90 day extension but the guy organizing the trips told me that it wouldn't work until I get my extension of stay officially invalidated at the ministry of labor.

Now, problem is that I wasn't terminated at my company but they also didn't extend my visa on time. What would be the procedure I need to go through in order to get back on my Non-B visa? Do I need to get a letter from my company that I'm no longer employed and go with it to min of labor and then go to immigration to cancel the extension first?

The company I work for is in a weird situation so I prefer to get some knowledge from people here before talking to them.

    Thanks!

Certainly do not classify myself as an expert but here is my understanding for what it is worth. If the Non- B was given based on the employment then once the employment is terminated then the visa associated with the employment also becomes invalid. You are then given x number of days to find alternative employment or requalify for another visa.

Also if you stay out of the country those"couple of days" the extension of stay will automatically lapse but imo the visa will still be an issue

Reading your post again I now read it that you are still employed by the company that initially organised your work permit.
If so just have them generate the paperwork to renew your work permit and extension of stay

Thanks for the answer. The problem is, however, that while I'm still employed the company isn't willing to renew my permit (it's a complicated situation). So that leaves me with an option of resigning which I'm not keen on doing... So, I need to get a temporary solution in a form of tourist visa which I'm not sure how to do as visa run guy told me I can't with my current papers. If anyone had a similar experience I'm all ears

Your present permission to stay will be cancelled when you get an exit stamp at a Thai border.
Just proceed to the embassy/consulate and apply for a tourist visa

IF your employer is willing to produce a 'termination'-letter, let them mention the date of the expiration of your WP/visa as the last working day.
Grom that date you officially have 7 days to act:
    - either start a new application for a WP (new job)
    - or get another visa.

Anyway, your initial non-B can't be used on its own.

If your employer doesn't produce a termination-letter, go to the Labor Dept with your WP and cancel it yourself.
