Getting a 3 month Non O' in Lao requirements

    Dear Teakdoor'ers
Can anyone help me with my query, I'm married to a Thai and we have just had our first child..Ta da. (happy as a pig in shit)
Well I am going to Lao on the 8th of Jan' to 'beg' for a 3 mth Non O' and I am really quite concerned over the new visa rules regarding Non O's. Now I know that the years request you must show 400k or 40k a mth coming in.. well this is where my trouble starts..After living in Thailand for 5+yrs and not really having any problems with getting visas the problem seems to be getting tricky!

I am currently searching for teaching work in my town but there's a shortage of schools here that wanna pay for Westerners. So in the meantime I have to get a new visa before I find work and get my Non B etc. So can anyone enligten me as to what the situation is now?
Currently my monetary situation doesn't give me 40k a month well about 30k from my house in the UK and I just get the money out of the bank when's needed. I don't get any statements and my online banking ain't worked for ages. I rely on very expensive calls to my telephone banking should something seem a wry. (which is rare)

And before anyone starts in on me about being skint and that I shouldn't be here, well here's a bit of history for you. I had a restaurant with my wife in Samui and well with all the rent increases and the expense that went along with living in Samui our money was dwindling, so we moved over to Khao lak to set up there..ooopppsss whats that big wave doing!!!! 26/12/04 (2548)
So I didn't do what others did and left people to there crushed lives, we stayed and helped as best we could, emotionally/financially we had been relatively lucky that A: we didn't die and B: our place didn't get washed away.
Then of course no one came (tourists) and most Thai's fled due to the Ghosts which apparently where everywhere!!! never saw any myself...so nobody wanted to take over our lease and we were stuck. So then I thought it would be a good idea to help the environment of Thailand by working for a coral reef regeneration project..I say working it was volunteer only...Thai's paying westerners almost unheard of!! (Biorock) so when the money got very low we moved to Korat and my wife set up a little noodle shop and she got pregnant..we lost the baby after 5mths in the womb I started work for a school but they could only give me work for 4mths!! So in the meantime she has been supporting me and I have done a bit of private teaching. So there you have it and now our baby is 7weeks old and doing just fine. So you see my worry..
God that was bloody long winded sorry bout' that.
So any help is much appreciated

Don't know about the 3 month non O, but I used to get a tourist good for 60 days and then have it extended for 30, and then go back and do it again every 90 days.
but got tired of doing that so now I have a Non O retirement

I don't remember when I first got the NON O, maybe 5 or 6 years ago.
But I wouldn't call being 75 years old lucky.

We used to go just as a vacation out of the country, but it got to be a pain in the ass fighting the Thai traffic and the way the goofy assholes drive and always see a wreck or 2 and some hurt or dead people so we just said, fuk it and 1 trip a year to CM to renew the extension is enough .

I have posted this before, but I get 3 month Non '0" in Laos then get a 2 month extension in Thailand.
All you need is a copy of yr marriage cert, in English seems to be Ok and a copy of yr ol ladys Tabian Baan and ID card, get her to sign them, a couple of copies of yr passport and 2 photo's.
You will have no problem and good for 5 months, I also incude my daughers Birth certs but don't think they are needed.

I think you can get the "O" just on showing of the marriage certificate, it's if you want to extend that you have to show the money.

    ^Well it is now tho..

But when I got my O it was 90 days before I had to show money or anything else for the Retirement extension.

I went to the Thai embassy in VTE in October 08 and was told I could only get a 60 day visa with 30 day extension in Thailand. Anyone have more recent info?
