Agreed, there were defections from the independents dissatisfied with Obama. I, for one, can't say as I blame them. But to call this a referendum on Obama is crawling way out there just for bragging rights.

Oh I forgot. You guys have a 41 seat majority. I guess you need to blow your horn.
Don't sulk now, MrG. Obama has helped to lose two gub elections (NJ and VA) and now an MA senate seat, not to mention Copenhagen and the Chicago Olympics loss. ZERO for FOUR.

Brown won by 5 points, Coakley acceded defeat before all the votes were in, and a GOPer winning in a state so mired in blue it's unbelievable a red rose could grow there. Fit to be tied I bet, MrG. 555555555555555

And look at what that 41 has done: totally derailed the HC bill, put libbies in shock mode and has them on their toes about doing more stupid things, like spending more money. Look out, libbies.

Let's not forget New Jersey and Virginia. No, no pattern here, that was last year, move along.

    Brown's message:

    1. The health care bill is too expensive and is plagued with back room deals. We need to start over.

    2. Tax cuts for individuals and businesses to create more jobs.

    3. Maintain a military "second to none".

    4. He's says the Constitution was not meant to grant rights and privileges to our enemies in wartime.

During his miles criss-crossing the state, people told him over and over that the country's political leaders are aloof from the people and are impatient with the people's dissent.

Give me one cogent analysis of New Jersey and Virgina (both local races...one of them for govenor) that reflect on Obama. There were a lot of commentators out spinning their sophistry at the time, but it was all just rhetoric and accusatio with not real rational behind it. It's all in you're mind, such as it is.

5555555555555555555 Poor MrG, just a washed-up libbie, who attacks anything positive about the GOP and anything neg about the libbies. You should be on Olbermann!
You think any Dem will want bambam coming to campaign for them with his losing streak? You see those people in the Ohio town hall looking embarrassed and nervous as BO spoke? You see how the libbies are dismantling HC and trying to turn on banks and corporations to take people's minds off the real issues? JOBS, support for small biz and smaller get-the-fek-outta-the-way government.
DrG, you check the spread in the MA race. It's everywhere. And get used to GOPers winning, coz the libbies have lost the people.

Oh, and in case anyone missed it, especially you MrG, here's an accurate analysis of the State of the Union:

Some fail to see the significance of the Brown win in Mass... After all, Mass. is a historically blue state and this senate seat has been held by the Dems for 46 years... If the traditionally liberal folks of Mass. are upset enough to either not turn out to vote or to vote Rep., the impetus is onerous for the Nov. elections...

I'm gonna fight for you...fight, fight, fight. Apparently, he said it 40 times. Moving swiftly on from the albatross-laden healthcare reform, Bamboy is onto the banks (everybody hates the banks; it's gotta work!). Fekin bozo. Muck with the banks again and Main Street won't recover. What a dufus. And now he's un-mothballed his trusty campaign manager, David Plouff, to help him and his libbie incumbents find the pulse of the people.

You got three days, Bebe. State of the Union address, Wed night.

Sen.-elect Scott Brown (R), the successor to the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), will be sworn in to office Thursday afternoon, giving Republicans 41 seats in the upper chamber.

Evan Bayh decides that Barack is just way too unpopular & he decides to go hide like a little girl.

Good. Opens up another seat for the G.O.P.

^ I am disappointed. Even if he's a Dem, he's a good man with good ideas. Obviously, he was sick and tired of Pelosi and her ilk.

Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh announced Monday that he will not seek re-election this November, an unexpected decision that hands Republicans an opportunity for a pick-up in a year when Democrats are already defending several open Senate seats.
    ...

"I love working for the people of Indiana," he said. "But I do not love Congress."

I think he's stated his reasons clearly enough- he's sick and tired of partisanship, both houses of Congress, Politicians and their ilk. So am I.

It seems to have come as a surprise to the Indiana Dem's though.

yeah, senator bayh decided not to seek reelection because of the speaker of the house.

    anyway...

on the surface this is not the best of news for democrats..but there's a chance it could end up turing into a positive.

first, it might push dems to deliver as many 'big ticket' campaign promises before november.

secondly, the presumptive republican candidate is wounded. he used to be quite popular, but a series of media ads have made him appear to be very vulnerable. if the dems can put up a candidate with a strong populist message that would likely play well in indiana, they might end up with someone in that seat who is more in line with dem party policy than bayh.

again, this is not good news...but it might turn out OK for the dems.

    Some news,……

The Tea Party is evidently cutting its ties with the GOP in Nevada and pitching its own political tent. Certainly the best news Harry Reid has had all year:

Sun columnist Jon Ralston is reporting that the Tea Party has qualified as a third party in Nevada and will have a candidate in the Senate race to battle for the seat held by Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The party has filed a Certificate of Existence but needs to get 1 percent of the electorate to vote for its candidate in November to permanently qualify, according to the report.

Ralston reported that Jon Ashjian will be the Tea Party’s U.S. Senate candidate on the November ballot. Ashjian still must declare his candidacy.

Pretty hilarious that Bayh gave the finger to the Dems by withdrawing one day before the primary nominee ballot. Lots of stories out there on Dem nominee hopeful, the cafe owner Tamyra d'Ippolito. Some say she collected enough votes, others say not. Sigh, we'll just have to wait for Fox News to report.

what's pretty hilarious is that you continue to post on topics that you really don't understand.

you're playing checkers, and people who actually understand US politics are playing chess.

because there wasn't time for a dem to get the required signatures, the state party will choose a nominee by late june.

on the other hand, this spring the the republicans are going to begin a brutal and bloody primary where they are forced to lurch to the right in an effort to out tea-bag each other....and this inevitably will alienate moderate and independent voters.

if he had to step aside, announcing at this late date was the best way for bayh to help the democrats.

    keep playing checkers, jet.

and yes, i do accuse you.....of not knowing the first thing about US politics. it's a weekly occurrence on this board that you have to be corrected or informed about something that should be common knowledge for someone who regularly posts on a forum about US political issues.

and this is not about an ideological difference i have with you...it's about your ignorance of the topic.
