A postcard featuring a cute puppy sitting in a policeman's hat advertising a Scottish police force's new telephone number has sparked outrage from Muslims.

Tayside Police's new non-emergency phone number has prompted complaints from members of the Islamic community.


The choice of image on the Tayside Police cards - a black dog sitting in a police officer's hat - has now been raised with Chief Constable John Vine.

Daily Mail 'journalism' at it's best. The "outrage" appears to be some complaints received (no mention of the number, frequency, or details of what they actually relate to), some stores refusing to display the cards (again, no details) and the obligatory quote from one Muslim person because he, obviously, speaks for all Muslims everywhere.

And then the rest of the article focuses on 'Rebel'; the Police dog in training and model for the card. Brilliant! As long as the operative terms "Muslim" and "Outrage" are prominent and closely linked in the headline/article I don't suppose it matters what else is in it. Whatever next, "OAP Outrage At Risque Adverts During Emmerdale Farm"?

I can't help it, I long for the days when newspapers informed of the news, not made it.

The Daily Mail and its ilk are a blight upon modern society. They are to 'news' as gas stations, micowaves, freezers and processed food are to fine-dining.

My question is why do Americans go ballistic on very small things? I understand why Muzzies get pissed. They are uneducated scum of the earth. What's with educated Americans, dude?

Sensible people aren't offended by such trivial things - a cute puppy is not offensive. However like always I expect they will give in and probably ditch this perfectly good campaign effort.
