    War Without End

Once again not from rt but from nyt:

The Pentagon’s failed campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan left a generation of soldiers with little to fight for but one another.

C.j.Chivers is a writer at large for the magazine. His previous feature article, which followed the combat service and incarceration of a Marine veteran suffering from alcoholism and PTSD, led to the veteran’s release from prison and won a Pulitzer Prize.

This article is adapted from ‘‘The Fighters: Americans in Combat in Afghanistan and Iraq,’’ published by Simon & Schuster.

Not the first and certainly not the last where young men are sent on marches of folly by a bunch of old and powerful men. Off they go with thoughts of patriotism and doing service to their nation. Flags waving, bands playing and families bidding adieu to loved ones. Loved ones and children they may next see in a body bag. As with all prolonged wars, the initial elation is soon replaced with personal survival and that of ones brothers in arms.

    When will we ever learn?

This is why people speak up and condemn the "bunch of powerful old men". But their power infiltrates the media, and these days the social media.
Time to take a stand and refuse the "tinfoil hat" or "unpatriotic" brands that those powerful old men encourage.

The US will learn how to stop war, like their European peers, after they get a major ass kicking and finally get invaded

not there yet, despite receiving successive ass kicking

maybe a full invasion will do,

No matter, I think the point of Fluke is the US is not only complacent, but arrogant insofar as their confidence as to their invulnerability.
Funnily, it would be the UN that would save the US if Russia and China decided to team up and/or use illegal methods to conquer. Which they could.

too much money to be made to stop.

Winning doesn't matter, selling military hardware does.

I guess you are right, the real battle is financial, it's about selling, and their corporations win all the time

I am convinced that after Trump, we will see much worse POTUS, possibly a full dictatorship style, with Mussolini or Pinochet as a benchmark

question of time before the US switch to the full military dictatorship,

how the world would react, that would be interesting

maybe a corporate mogul, like Facebook CEO or Starbuck progressive CEO, will probably want to have a shot and force everyone to follow their silly "ideals"

Of course they have. They have not lost one tactical battle on the Battalion level since the Korean war. The US military rakes and wins all the battles. It is American politics that cost the US victories.

So you are claiming that these countries could invade the US?

Never forget you bozo we handed the Falklands to you lot. The Argies would have decimated you lot if it was not for the US.

Of course they could. Especially, as I said, if they use unconventional means to start the softening process, and if they combined forces. Done deal. Except for UN intervention.
PS. Read my post again and see the irony of your response wrt to US complacency and belief in invulnerability.

I stand corrected. I meant Dragonfly, referring to post #7.

(Why do I get those 2 mixed up? )

A massive back down. Wars are always won on the tactical level if you ever donned a uniform you would understand this. I dare you to find a time that US forces ever lost a battle of battalion size or larger.
