ameristan adding cruise missiles on it's future icebreakers.

Allegedly ameristani navy will be investing in a few US Coastguard icebreakers equipped with cruise missiles. It appears the diabolical plan of China to ship goods via the Arctic ocean NSR route will be thwarted.

China and Russia ten or fifteen years ago realised it would be cheaper, safer and easier to ensure it's merchants had alternative sea routes other than those passing through the ocean bottle necks "protected" by ameristan and it's vassals.

Russia has many Ice breakers, some nuclear powered. ameristan has 3, One in the repair shop, one in Antarctica and one available for "rescue duties" elsewhere. The vessels have yet to be designed, built, tested or deployed. Target is 2023.

How the Coast Guard is prepping cruise missiles on icebreakers as another Cold War heats up

"The Coast Guard’s proposed heavy icebreaker for the Arctic comes with something no previous model ever had: room for cruise missiles.

While military control of the frozen tundras at the top of the world has become a political and national security imperative to Washington and Moscow for years, Coast Guard Commandant Paul Zukunft quietly confirmed last week that the service’s newest fleet of heavy icebreaker ships will be designed for the first time to carry heavy weapons.

That announcement, just as Russia is beefing up its much-larger fleet of icebreakers plying the Arctic waters, is the clearest sign that a literal and figurative Cold War may be heating up at the top of the world.
Backers of arming American icebreakers say the move is long overdue because the Coast Guard ships are the only American heavy vessels able to traverse the massive glaciers and ice drifts that pockmark the Arctic waterways.

Opponents say arming the Coast Guard vessels sends a dangerous signal to Moscow that Washington is looking for a fight over the Arctic while there is a wary but real cooperation in place among the nations of the region.

“This is not just about [new] icebreakers; this is part of a broader competition just below the surface,” said former Navy Capt. Jerry Hendrix, now a senior fellow at the Washington-based Center for a New American Security."

I don't think so. See quote #1 above.

Future Icebreakers May Have Cruise Missiles, Zukunft Says
    https://www.military.com/defensetech...s-zukunft-says

But, Zukunft indicated, changing threats may call for more icebreakers, and possibly a more robust weapons loadout.
"We need to look differently ... at what an icebreaker does," he said. "We need to reserve space, weight and power if we need to strap a cruise missile package on it."

Are any of China’s icebreakers armed? I couldn’t find anything on it.

Russia has missile armed icebreakers. This is the latest.

    Armament of Project 23550-class icebreakers

The Russian Navy’s Project 23550-class polar icebreaker ships will be armed with one AK-176MA automatic naval gun system developed by JSC CRI Burevestnik.

Mounted on the bow, the artillery gun will provide defence against sea, air and shore-based targets at a distance of up to 15.7km. It has a rate of fire between 120 and 131 rounds a minute.

The armament also includes four Kalibr-NK anti-ship / anti-submarine/ land-attack subsonic cruise missiles, which will be launched from two quadruple canister missile launch systems located at the stern of the ship.
