    4.5% is nothing.

Cheese and butter here went up 20% a few months ago. Did I stop buying it?

4.5% (if that indeed is the figure), is a virtual irrelevance.

European buyers of QUALITY British products will simply take it in their stride.

The EU, while a noble idea, has been taken over by a corrupt element.

We're better off out of it, and indeed will prosper to a far greater extent, than we do while we're beholden to it.

I think possibly that EFTA also mandates the jurisdiction of the ECJ.

No, it doesn't. There is an EFTA court but it doesn't claim primacy over national law.

I bet you'd go for the 4.5% cheaper butter.

I admit I'd pay a bit more for mature Brit Cheddar, which costs less here than in Blighty, just like Scotch - you're being ripped off, and it's not the evil EU.

Mutty Merkel would love the Brits to stay and share the socialist financial burdens.

Aint gonna happen, so she will have to expel all the Yereman druggie bludgers like Stroller.

The unresolved Irish question will at least ensure the return of the armed struggle against English imperialism. Nice to see a proper bombing campaign again, eh?

Fears that the UK will pull out of the EU without a transitional deal covering financial contracts are leading EU banks to increasingly avoid relying on UK derivatives contracts. The European Banking Authority says EU banks' derivatives exposure to UK derivatives fell about 35% during the 12 months that ended in June.

Update: HM gov has launched a public awareness campaign to dissuade people from hoarding rats and roaches, after the DM published a twelve-page pamphlet on how to breed these life saving creatures.

For me a hard Brexit means leaving the four freedoms: goods, services, capital and people. Any compromise means a softer Brexit and it's a compromise that the UK are searching for with the current negotiations. How much of a compromise determines how soft Brexit becomes and how less the fall that the UK will need to cope with.

Losing any of the financial sector due to lack of passporting rights is the biggest risk and no amount of external funding of the manufacturing industry (what's left of it) will compensate for that loss. Loss of respect and loss of trust will not hit as hard but will take its toll when the going gets tough. Economics is a slow process, a little like an autopilot on a supertanker compared to a fighter aircraft, it will take time for the mistake to trickle through. Loss of a high percentage of the UK professional class to the EU is of a major concern and I am surprised just how many of them have already become nationals of an EU country instead of remaining UK citizens.

All of Europe is in turmoil at the moment, with Germany, Italy, Spain and France having their own problems. It is a time when they should be helping each other rather than pointing fingers with castigation.

I like Merkel. She is a woman who leads one of the most prosperous and efficient countries in the world. We’re it not for dullards like you, she wouldn’t be struggling to form a government.
Note the success of the fatherland while you have been away. Coincidence? I think not. lol

Frau will need to scrap her 200k immigrant cap as part of the package to stay in power. Any guesses what she will do?

My money's on power, even with no effective EU/German strategy for dealing with the consequences based on past results, pure demographics, economics and logistics.

    Interesting times.

There is no guarantee that a member candidate ever will become a member, there is a difference between intention and reality.

Of course there Is, the EU want every country to join, why do you think Turkey is a candidate country and negotiations have been going on for years. Will take many more years before they join but join one day they will should the EU still exist. Will probably need a new leader in Turkey first though as Erdogan has pissed quite a few people off. Aren't Turkey citizens going to be getting visa free entry to the EU anyway?

Of course not, you spastic ignoramus. Turks have been visa nationals for pretty well most of the EU countries with the UK being the last to impose it in 1989 following the migration of thousands of Turkish asylum seekers that year and previously.

What the fuck are you rambling on about Now, Turks need a visa to enter the UK and Germany presently. But there is talk of doing away with visas as otherwise Erdogan has threatened to open the floodgates in terms of refugees entering Europe.

Fuck off, you lying wanker. You stated that wasn't it the case Turkish nationals could visit most EU countries without a visa and I replied "Of course not".

You dumb prick the only edit I made was adding 3 words as in 'going to be' when I realised wtf you were ranting on about as I obviously hadn't worded it clearly enough the first time.

You seem to lack a general understanding of the difference between present and future.

Turkey (population 76 million) is joining EU

No they are not, so it is a lie. They may or may not join at some unforeseeable time in the future.

The going to be was just in reference to the visa free discussions that have been going on and looks like going to be granted. Turkey will join the EU as will all other candidate countries, some will obviously join quicker than others though.

You can't argue with an imbecile.

I caught him out and he's wriggling on the hook of his own deceit but he still won't admit it.

    These oiks have no integrity.
